Meet Adam White of The EDGE Ziplines & Adventures

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam White.

Adam, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in Bethesda, Maryland, where I developed a deep love for the outdoors from an early age. Earning my Eagle Scout rank was formative—it taught me leadership, perseverance, and a profound respect for nature. Those experiences shaped who I am today.
I’ve always been drawn to adventure, particularly rock climbing, kayaking, and skiing which became passions of mine. There’s something about the challenge, the focus, and the connection to the natural world that has always resonated with me.
In 2015, I made the move to Colorado, seeking both the mountains and new opportunities. That’s when I discovered The EDGE Ziplines and Adventures in Castle Rock. From the moment I found it, I knew this was where I belonged. The company’s mission of providing thrilling outdoor experiences while fostering a deep appreciation for nature aligned perfectly with my values and background. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of helping grow The EDGE and sharing these incredible adventures with our guests every day.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—running an outdoor adventure business comes with unique challenges that constantly keep us adapting and evolving.
One of the biggest ongoing challenges has been navigating the changing landscape of regulations in our industry. We’ve had to stay on top of evolving state-level requirements, shifting insurance standards, and industry-wide best practices. Safety is paramount in what we do, so we’re committed to not just meeting these standards but exceeding them. However, keeping pace with regulatory changes while maintaining operations requires constant vigilance and flexibility.
Managing through COVID-19 was another significant test. Like many businesses, we had to quickly pivot our operations and implement new safety protocols. Surprisingly, we ended up being very busy during that time—people were craving outdoor experiences and safe ways to get outside. While we were grateful for the business, it meant managing increased demand while ensuring everyone’s safety during an unprecedented situation.
Another ongoing challenge is supervising our seasonal staff of 50+ college-aged guides. Recruiting, training, and retaining quality team members each season requires significant effort and resources. We need guides who are not only skilled and safety-conscious but also passionate about creating memorable experiences for our guests. Building that culture and consistency with a rotating staff takes dedication, but it’s been incredibly rewarding to mentor young people and watch them grow.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Here’s a draft response for the mentor/networking question:
My advice for finding a mentor is simple: find your passion in life, then be intentional about meeting others who share that same passion. When you’re genuinely excited about something, you naturally gravitate toward people who can help you grow and expand your knowledge base. Those connections become invaluable—not just for what you learn, but for the community and support they provide.
My own path is a testament to this approach. I didn’t start at the top—I interviewed for a base-level position at The EDGE and worked my way up through every position in the business. That journey was incredibly formative. By experiencing each role firsthand, I learned the ins and outs of operations, built relationships with colleagues and mentors along the way, and developed a deep understanding of what makes this industry tick.
Now, as the owner, I try to pay that forward. I’m passionate about mentoring those who are genuinely interested in our industry. I look for people who have that same spark—the ones who see this as more than just a job, but as a calling. The outdoor adventure industry is full of people who love what they do, and that creates a natural environment for mentorship and growth.
My advice: don’t be afraid to start at the bottom. Show up, work hard, be curious, and connect with people who inspire you. The relationships you build and the knowledge you gain along the way are often more valuable than any title or position.
