Today, we’d like to introduce you to Andrea de la Garza.
Hi Andrea, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It’s been a dream of mine since 2010 to open my studio. I was a single mom to a little boy with Down Syndrome. No matter how hard I tried, I didn’t have enough time, money, or knowledge. My son unexpectedly passed in 2021. I, then, had nothing but time. I decided to purchase a studio from a friend. I had the support of my new husband and the studio community to make things happen.
It’s been over a year, and I have transformed this space from a cute little barre studio into a Denver fitness hub! We have tripled our revenue on Class Pass since I started. We’ve added trampoline & weight lifting classes, monthly events, community classes, a multitude of props, happy hour classes, membership perks, fundraisers, and new up-to-date music.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any job, there has been a learning curve. I was unfamiliar with real estate practices, most technology, and social media. I am learning thanks to this incredible community of women who have guided me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
What sets us apart at Denver Barre Collective is that we emphasize each instructor’s individuality. Allowing each instructor to be creative in their offering. Therefore, every single class is a new & exciting experience.
I am very passionate about health, fitness, well-being, and lifting others. I have created a space for everyone to fall in love with movement. I began in 2009. First, as a cycling instructor, then I added barre. Shortly after, I became a manager, a personal trainer, and a pilates instructor; it is unique that this has been my focus for 15 years. Most people have fitness as a side hustle.
I’ve dedicated all my time, effort, and studies to exercising and leading a team. I am most proud of Denver Barre Collective for being a custom & specialized studio that is women/Latina-owned and powered! Our classes are Barre, Barre sweat, Barre sculpt, Barre stretch, Barre run, Trampoline & weight lifting.
Any big plans?
I look forward to making this studio busy and successful. Eventually, I will open a second location. I would also love to hold space for adults with Down Syndrome to come work out.
