Meet Andrew Vick of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Vick.

Hi Andrew, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I studied photography in San Diego, CA, where my career really began. At first, I was photographing surfers at sunset and friends who were starting to join agencies in LA. Travel quickly became my springboard for inspiration and photography. I visited all 50 states by the age of 19 and traveled abroad, which helped to shape my perspective on the world and art.

My first big leap of faith came at the Edina Art Fair in Minnesota, where I sold my first prints. Around the same time, I attended a friend’s wedding with my little film camera. Unexpectedly, the couple ended up using more of my photos than the professional photographer they had hired. They encouraged me to pursue photography and that moment really changed everything.

I started capturing weddings on film and immediately fell in love with the wedding story. I have always had a soft spot for love stories, so wedding photography became my perfect niche. I started small, working solo, but soon added a couple of friends to help with finances and photo editing. From there, the business rapidly grew and by our third year we were winning awards. Now I have a physical studio space, an incredible team of professional photo editors, photographers, and a studio crew.

A few years ago, I expanded and opened a corporate and family branch called Vick Studios. It is thriving today, and one of the highlights of my career was working as a photographer at the Super Bowl in Minneapolis, MN. I’m a big sports fan so it was a true highlight and something I’ll never forget. I feel so lucky to be capturing everything from love stories, to family photos, to big corporate events and headshots with the best team in the world.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been surprisingly smooth, but of course there have been bumps along the way. I have been incredibly lucky to have amazing support from my friends and family, and I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

Everything changed when I met my wife, Janelle. That was the moment the business turned from something I do into something I truly love. She brings out the best in me and constantly reminds me of my passion for capturing love stories. With her by my side, even the challenges feel worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in storytelling through photography. My approach is very photojournalistic, especially when capturing love stories. I focus on all the small, intimate details and fleeting moments that are often missed. My couples often come back to me after their wedding and say they didn’t even realize some of the things I captured were happening, but now those photos have become some of their favorite stories. That is what I love most.

I started out working in concerts and events, so the event world feels natural to me. Whether it is a corporate event or a non-profit gala, I bring the same compassion and heart to my work. It is never just a job to me. I aim to capture the “why” behind the event, the raw emotions, personalities, and connections that are always there but often overlooked in corporate photography. It is about showing the human side of any gathering, no matter how big or small.

I tend to gravitate toward working with people who value creativity and want to do good in the world. I have been fortunate to work with many non-profits and foundations, and I love being able to give back to my community both locally and internationally. It is something I am really proud of.

What sets me apart is my deep connection to storytelling, my ability to see moments others might miss, and my passion for the people and causes I work with. Whether I am photographing a wedding, a corporate event, or family photos, I strive to capture authentic moments with meaning.
