Meet Annette Rogers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annette Rogers.

Hi Annette, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have loved photography most of my life. I was always the girl with a disposable camera on me at all times. My very first real camera had a floppy disc. Lol. I decided to start my business after I had my daughter. I knew that photography was what I was meant to do, and becoming a mom really motivated me to pursue my dreams. I watched tutorials and took photography classes to learn everything I could. Today I am still learning and growing as a photographer. I specialize in family photography because, being a wife and mom myself, I know how important all of those little moments and details are. My goal is to continue to tell stories, capture personalities and deliver beautiful, timeless photos to my clients.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road wasn’t always smooth. Moving from state to state for my husband’s job and having to basically start over so many times to build clientele was definitely discouraging. Most recently, having to shut down due to COVID was also a struggle for not just me but for most small businesses.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in family photography. I also offer couples, seniors and branding sessions. I am most proud of how far I’ve come with my work. I’ve come a long way from the floppy disc days. If I were to set myself apart from all of the other phenomenal photographers, I would say it’s my ability to connect with my clients. I’m often told that I captured everyone’s personalities, and that’s because I like for my clients to be comfortable with me. I want them to be themselves. Those genuine expressions are the most beautiful.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Keep going and never compare yourself to anyone else.
