Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Spooner.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Dr. Ashley Spooner, and I’m a general dentist in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. I graduated from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine and purchased Falcon Park Dental Group, a PDS Health-supported practice, in 2013.
From the beginning, my vision for Falcon Park Dental Group has been to provide quality, efficient, comprehensive family dental care with an emphasis on Total Body Health. I’ve always believed that your mouth is part of your body — and that dental health plays a vital role in your overall wellness. Our team works to help every patient understand the Mouth-Body Connection, and we continually educate ourselves to deliver advanced, compassionate, and collaborative care.
My passion for connecting the dots between oral health and whole-body health comes from a deeply personal experience. Several years ago, my dad suffered a traumatic brain injury from a wakeboarding accident during a family vacation. He spent 26 days in the ICU and nearly five months in the hospital before passing away. During that time, my mom was with him every day, and I was there every night after work. We never left his side and advocated for his care every step of the way.
That experience changed me profoundly. I realized how important it is to know what questions to ask — and that not everyone has someone who can do that for them. I knew I wanted to do more for my patients than just treat their teeth; I wanted to help them live better by understanding their health on a deeper level.
That’s what led me into sleep medicine. In 2015, I began studying the connection between sleep, airway health, and overall health, and by 2020, I became a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. I started screening and treating patients for obstructive sleep apnea, and it’s been life-changing to see how improving sleep can transform someone’s energy, mood, and well-being.
Over time, my work has also expanded to include TMJ treatment, which strongly correlates with both quality of life and sleep. I’ve incorporated regenerative medicine techniques, including PRF injections, to support healing, reduce inflammation, and improve outcomes for surgical sites, joint dysfunction, and tissue recovery. Addressing TMJ dysfunction, airway, sleep, and regenerative care together allows me to approach patients holistically — helping them function better during the day, rest better at night, and heal more effectively.
Ultimately, my passion has evolved from simply treating teeth to helping people transform their health through better sleep, airway function, TMJ care, and regenerative therapies. That shift has guided every step of my journey — from general practice to clinical education to public health advocacy. What began as a traditional dental career has become a mission to help people sleep better, thrive more, and live fully.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. The regenerative and whole-body health approach to dentistry hasn’t always been widely understood or supported — especially early on. For a long time, many patients viewed dentistry as “optional,” something you do just to get your teeth cleaned, not realizing how deeply oral health connects to overall health.
That’s changing now as more research and awareness around sleep health, airway, and inflammation bring the mouth-body connection into focus. Still, there are times when dentists aren’t viewed as true healthcare providers. It can be frustrating when our treatment recommendations are seen as “upsells” simply because insurance doesn’t cover them, when in reality, they’re evidence-based solutions designed to improve health outcomes.
I’ve had to learn how to better communicate that intention — to help patients understand that my recommendations are not about selling something, but about helping them sleep better, feel better, and live better. I invest heavily in continuing education and learning from the best in the field so I can offer the highest level of care. The challenge has been mastering both the science and the art of communication — showing patients the value, the why, and ultimately, the life-changing potential of what we do.
As you know, we’re big fans of Falcon Park Dental Group/Dynamic Dental Sleep, LLC/Sleep.Thrive.Live.. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I wear a few different hats that all connect back to one mission — helping people live healthier, more vibrant lives through better sleep, oral health, and overall wellness.
At Falcon Park Dental Group, we focus on accessibility and excellence. I’ve built our practice around the idea that high-quality, comprehensive care should also be convenient and approachable. We’re open extended hours — 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays — so that busy families and professionals can get the care they need. Our team includes 3 general dentists, 2 hygienists, and integrated specialists including: periodontist, endodontist, and oral surgeon who each visit regularly, allowing patients to receive specialized care without leaving the office.
We’ve invested in the latest technology — including CBCT 3D imaging, digital scanning, salivary diagnostics, CEREC same-day crowns, and laser dentistry — which enables us to provide everything from general and cosmetic dentistry to surgical procedures, TMJ therapy, and sleep-related dental care, all under one roof.
From that foundation, I created Dynamic Dental Sleep, LLC, which trains and educates dentists and healthcare teams on sleep and airway medicine. We provide practical, science-based workflows that help practices implement sleep medicine, improve patient outcomes, and expand the scope of comprehensive care.
Finally, Sleep.Thrive.Live. is my public education platform — a space where I translate credible sleep science into actionable, real-world insight. Through video, social media, and educational content, we help patients and communities understand the critical link between sleep, oral health, and total body wellness.
What ties all of these together is a simple philosophy: true health starts with reducing chronic inflammation, and addressing inflammation requires a holistic approach that considers both the mouth and the body. Dentistry plays a pivotal role in this — from treating infection, supporting airway health, and addressing TMJ issues to integrating sleep medicine — all of which can profoundly impact overall well-being. By focusing on inflammation, oral health, and quality sleep, we help patients not just improve their smiles, but transform their energy, function, and overall quality of life.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is truly taking care of people — not just treating symptoms, but looking at health holistically and exploring all viable options. Oral health is deeply connected to overall health, and issues in the mouth can contribute to chronic inflammation, which impacts energy, sleep, and long-term wellness. There are so many tools in our toolbox today, and science and technology allow us to get to the true origin of pain, inflammation, and medical conditions, rather than just covering them up. I want my patients to understand what’s happening in their bodies, know their options, and feel empowered to make informed decisions about their health. Helping people feel better, regain function, and improve their quality of life gives me my ultimate purpose.
Beyond patient care, I care deeply about developing and elevating those around me. That means educating communities on the power of sleep and its profound impact on overall health, and mentoring my team so they can become the best versions of themselves. I want to leave a meaningful mark on this world — not only by providing the highest quality care, but also by contributing to the progression of medicine and dentistry, and fostering the personal and professional growth of those I have the privilege to work with.
