Today we’d like to introduce you to Aundria Sinclair.
Hi Aundria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story begins in the early 90s. My drag career began in Odessa, Texas. I have won several titles in the past including Miss Gay West Texas USofA. I retired in 2011 and recently started performing again in Denver. My husband and I have lived in CO for 5years. We have been married for 11 years.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a road of trials. Growing up in a conservative area of Texas my art form was not as appreciated. It was seen as a sign of weakness and weirdness. My family is not supportive and in fact have lost all ties with them, because I choose to live and love the way I want. I have had to deal with homophobia and have even been physically attacked for being gay.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a teacher by day and artist by night. I am known for my classic style of drag I’m not the one to get on stage and do Death drops… I’m pretty and give the crowd a taste of what drag use to be.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I teach high school English and so I am always into a good book. I recently just finished The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.
