Today we’d like to introduce you to Bailee Richards.
Hi Bailee, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I personally started my interest in photography when I was 14 years old. I began taking photos for family friends to build my portfolio and then decided to make it an actual business. I started out as a small-town photographer and recently decided to create a network of businesses that are still in progress. This network will promote a healthy and happy lifestyle to a number of motivated enthusiasts that are determined to move beyond their current situation in a positive manner. Growing and having an independent personality, I knew that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. Owning a business, if not multiple businesses, has been my dream since I was 14 years old. I turned my dream into a goal and am now hoping to turn my goal into a reality. After high school, I decided that failure was absolutely not an option for myself. I decided that no matter what, I was going to succeed. I am going to have everything that I wanted in life. I am going to create my business brand, have a happy and healthy family, and build my dream home and life from the ground up. I am going to build my own empire, one step at a time. I haven’t given up since.
I am planning on launching my beauty line as well as my online boutique this year, 2022, and could not be more excited to do so.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Photography is a very competitive industry. Especially if you are a new photographer trying to gain clients. This was probably my biggest obstacle when it came to expanding my photography business. You have these photographers who know what they are doing and are good at their job with large portfolios and amazing reviews and then there is you who is just starting out, slowly getting reviews and building a portfolio from scratch. It’s definitely tough starting out.
More recently I had a lot of personal struggles that set my businesses back. Covid has definitely impacted my business in multiple ways. I’ve also had a tough pregnancy that has impacted my businesses as well. Family is very important to me but can sometimes be difficult to balance when you are running a business and creating a brand, in my case multiple brands.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My main hustle is my photography business, Maijorie Photography by Bailee LLC. I specialize in portrait photography but recently decided to expand into maternity as well as wedding photography. I also began blogging and created Blogs by Maijorie. I wanted to create an online space for mothers, especially working mothers and “momprenuers”, entrepreneurs, beauty and fashion junkies, and for individuals who are dedicated to creating an overall happy, prosperous, and healthy life.
In March of 2022, I will be launching my first beauty line, Maijorie Beauty. I will be releasing glosses and lip products, body butters, bath salts, and bath bombs, and then by 2023 will be hopefully expanding to a full cosmetics line. In Fall of 2022, I will be debuting Maijorie Boutique, Fall Boutique Collection. I will not only have a variety of clothing available for purchase, but also handmade gifts and home decor.
I think the biggest trait that sets myself apart is how many different niches I do have and am able to turn into multiple businesses. I have always wanted to create a little business empire and this year I’m proud to finally get it all started after so many years of dreaming about it and the late nights planning.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was always interested in business. I always wanted to be in the photography industry, although I wasn’t sure what niche at the time. I was always a perfectionist and very introverted. I was and always have been a planner. I remember being 15 years old and here I was, making a “future budget” of everything that I would need in life to actually live off of. I knew I wanted to gain wealth, although I didn’t always know the way to go about it. I would read a lot especially about investing, business and tried to expand my photography knowledge.
