Meet Bernadette Joy Cruz-Maulion

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Bernadette Joy Cruz-Maulion. Bernadette Joy was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Samantha Schultz. Bernadette and her team share her story with us below:

Bernadette’s vision is to change the face of wealth in America. Her practical money tips have been featured on CNBC, MarketWatch, USA Today and TIME Magazine, and as a TV contributor for ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS’s The Doctors and Access Daily on NBC.

Her fresh teaching approach stems from how she and her husband paid off $300K of debt in three years, and built their first $1M of net worth in their thirties. From this experience, she became the CEO of Crush Your Money Goals, a six-figure financial education and media company that taught over 2,000 individuals across the US in 2020 alone.

Prior to her entrepreneurial career, she spent ten years in human resources at Fortune 100 companies and technology startups, that rounded out her strong ability to connect with large organizations.

She earned both a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Boston University, and her MBA degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

When she’s not teaching, she’s singing karaoke, eating chocolate and playing board games with her husband in Asheville, North Carolina

Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
WHAT MAKES YOU INTERESTING? It’s a real question I’m asking. Because at one point I was spending my precious life working soul-less jobs to buy the pretty clothes, the beauty products, the hot wheels, and the McMansion, for what? TO BE BORING AS HELL 🤣🤣🤣 I was a snoozefest when I didn’t have my money game tight because my life revolved around work. Even on the sporadic vacations I took, I still thought about the work waiting for me when I got home. Nowadays, thanks to my work optional attitude (with the finances to match) I’ve been spending a lot of time exploring my own interests, piano and singing lessons, K-pop culture, psychology, economics, local art and thanks to my husband — board game design 😉 I think I’ve become a lot more fun since pursuing FI/RE 🔥

Samantha helped us plan our multi-city trip to Italy and it took all the stress and guesswork out of planning. We just followed the itinerary and enjoyed ourselves. I don’t think I can go back to planning my trips on my own anymore 🙂
