Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Warmath.
Hi Beth, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always loved art but never dreamed that is what I would do professionally. As a child, I loved to explore outside, draw bugs, trees, animals, and anything that would sit still. I have always been fascinated by nature’s color and detail so I challenge myself and hope to get better with every drawing and painting I do.
I went to school for graphic design and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree to work in the corporate world, which I loved until I got bored so I earned my teaching certificate for elementary art where my art world blossomed. I taught school, started making public art, and went full throttle into the art community.
I got so busy painting murals on the weekend that I thought “Hey I could do this full-time” and I did. I jumped right in, started my own business, and have been painting murals full-time at www.WarmathWalls.com. I am so grateful.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business can be very challenging, especially art. I really pushed myself to do something art-related every day, even if I didn’t have painting work. I was a single Mom with two kids in school so they were dependent on me and it made me work extra hard to make ends meet.
I remember getting down to $17.36 in my bank account and I thought about giving up for sure, I went deep into my religious background and remembered a verse, Like birds in the sky, doesn’t He also take care of them? I let my anxiety go… and landed one of the biggest murals I’ve ever done. Now it’s not so big, because I keep getting bigger.
Lesson learned “Never give up!”
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I looooove COLOR and I am known for my vibrant, tropical colors. I mix most of my paint from primary colors, magenta, black and white. I’m really good at matching colors and love to pull nature into my painting by replicating the surrounding areas. My art is graphic with realism but painting murals is not the only thing I’m known for…
I am also a Wearable Art designer. I have been working with a group of designers for 9 years making large headdresses from recycled materials along with full outfits.
We have been in many fashion shows, charitable events, New York fashion week, and galleries. My outfits are very similar to my painting showing my love for nature, patterns, and vibrant colors. I am very passionate about creating, building, and designing. I love the challenge of every job. To have an idea in your head come to fruition is very rewarding whether it’s on a 3 story building or coming down the runway. I am always amazed.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I feel lucky that people have an appreciation for artists, along with the time it takes to make art and how it has made our world a more beautiful place.
Can you imagine a world with no color? or design? It would be very boring. I have people thank me all the time, and that makes me feel pretty lucky I am able to do that through art.
