Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobby Taylor.
Hi Bobby, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My musical journey begins with my mother singing and playing piano as I grew up, she’s the reason I play music in general. It wasn’t until after her tragic car accident and her passing that I started to take it seriously, its like I had to make music to be happy because nothing ever was good enough to take away the pain I held for so long because of everything that happened when my mom passed away.
I started playing drums when I was about 12 and I picked up the guitar around the age of 14 it wasn’t until I was about 28 years old that I first started producing my records on the computer and singing more than I ever have. I felt a sense of comfort singing to my own created songs and it felt like I could do anything. My life brought me to Colorado where I’ve been for the past 7 years trying to get my dream off the ground! So, that’s how I started playing music.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Bobby “Robert Taylor Jr” was born and raised in South Georgia. He started playing music when he was 16 to help cope with the loss of his mother. Soon after this Bobby was tossed into the streets, where he had to quit school and also dealt with drug and alcohol addiction. Which set him out to travel and live in 27 states to escape the crowd and influences that weren’t doing him any good where he also played gigs here and there and met a lot of interesting people along the way.
He finally grounded himself in Colorado, where he felt the most at home, It had been a hard fight for Bobby ever since that tragic experience back in 2007 but he’s now been drug and alcohol-free for almost 7 years and he’s finally ready to share his music with the world.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a multi-genre musician I create songs that I hope people can relate to that have been through similar struggles. I mention almost all of my songs my struggles and dreams and ambitions.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I have dreams of opening my community music studio to help all the people who can’t get into a studio express themselves freely and get it recorded and produced without having to pay thousands of dollars. I want to give back to the music community that has helped me along my journey.
