Today we’d like to introduce you to Brigitte Johnson.
Hi Brigitte, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Mountain Way Properties really started the day we packed up our five kids and four dogs and left Midwest suburbia for the Colorado Rockies. We wanted a slower pace, more adventure, and a chance to raise our family surrounded by nature. At first, we thought it was just a lifestyle change, but we quickly realized other people were craving the same thing — even if just for a weekend getaway.
Our first cabin was about making memories with our own family as much as it was about hosting guests. Now our kids are young adults, and they still talk about the vacations we took when they were little — those trips really stuck with them. That’s what motivates me: creating spaces where other families and friends can come together and make those same kinds of lifetime memories.
One cabin grew into two, and before long Mountain Way Properties was born. It wasn’t about starting a business as much as it was about sharing what we had fallen in love with. And that’s still at the heart of it today — giving people a place to slow down, reconnect, and take home stories they’ll be telling for years.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No such thing as a smooth road!!! I’ve scrubbed countless toilets, hauled dead trees, shoveled snow, cleaned up trash from the bears night time activities and worked 18 hours a day sometime.
Totally worth it to create spaces for family and friends to be able to unplug, relax, explore and make lifelong memeories.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My current work is communicating with our guests to be sure they have an exceptional stay; coordinating our homegrown cleaners that really care abut providing a beautiful space for our guests; providing local excursion recommendations; and great good and drink recommendations.
I’m most known for my love for people and animals; enthusiasm; and sincerity.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
WE have fostered over 250 Pine Ridge reservation puppies.
