Meet Carrie Tullos of Insurance Collective LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carrie Tullos.

Hi Carrie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Louisiana, but I’ve always had a place in my heart for Colorado. After graduating from Louisiana State University with a major in Business and a minor in Mass Communications, I spent time in working in both Manhattan and New Orleans before relocating to Denver in 2014. Here I set my sights on the insurance industry, connecting clients with auto, home and life policies tailored for their individual needs. After a few years on the captive side, I started Insurance Collective to build something of my own, while providing my clients with a more robust set of choices. I now work for the clients, not the carriers.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There’s been a tremendous amount of change in the business since I opened Insurance Collective. Insurance costs are skyrocketing all across the country and Colorado is no exception. The combination of increased housing costs, wildfires and hail storms have created an environment where carriers are having a hard time making money. In fact, many big-name carriers have put a moratorium on new business in Colorado or even pulled out of the market completely. The conditions are always changing and it’s a challenge to keep up. That’s why it’s so important for clients to have an advocate on their side to not only find the right coverage, but keep them from losing it.

As you know, we’re big fans of Insurance Collective LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Insurance Collective is a fully independent agency. I work for my clients, instead of the carriers. That means I’m able to act as an advisor and put their best interests first in any situation. I’m a big believer in acting with integrity. So, I’m much more interested in establishing long-term relationships over short-term sales. The insurance business is all about accountability, and as a local business owner, my clients know they’ve got a real, live person in their corner.

What makes you happy?
The mountains are my happy place! I love skiing, hiking, camping and even just grabbing a beer in a mountain town. I moved here from New Orleans, and although I do miss the food, Colorado has so much to offer! I can’t imagine a better place to have built a business and I’m so grateful for the opportunities this state has afforded me.
