Meet Charlie Stewart of Green Belly Foods Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlie Stewart.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2014, Charlie first heard about the dream of Green Belly Foods from his cousin Juan. He knew his cousin was hustling as a single father, and Charlie really wanted to help him, and loved the idea of teaming up with such an amazing person and community leader.

For a year every morning at 9am they had a meeting to discuss how to grow a craft family hot sauce business. The duo organically expanded from one farmers market a week to over 300 events a year and into hundreds of stores.

However, with business and life there are always unexpected challenges. In this case Juan’s son was struck with a cancer diagnosis. At this point Charlie took over the management of Green Belly so his Juan could focus on family and healing.

In 2024 Green Belly was just accepted into KeHe. This national distributor gave them delivery into thousands of new doors. This primed Green Belly to expand on the ground.

Through this expansion Charlie is committed to empowering his team and community. His vision of making a positive impact has materialized by creating fun local jobs, better for the earth products, and initiatives to support Guatemalan students and farmers. He even launched tours of Guatemala to facilitate global connection.

As Green Belly Foods continues to grow, Charlie remains grounded. When not working tirelessly to expand their business, he can be found exploring personal growth, tending the garden, or playing ice hockey.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Creating new products in a competitive space is hard. Even with one of the most popular hot sauces Whole Foods has ever sold, it is never easy creating something new. The road has been full of unforeseen obstacles.

We specialize in craft sauces inspired by Guatemala created in Colorado. We are flavor focused fire finished and people love to share our sauce. We are most proud of our raving fans. It is still so fun to have people bringing their friends and family to try our sauces at the farmers markets! People can support our brand in most local Colorado grocery stores as well as online, but we love seeing you in person at the farmers markets where we have the best bulk deals.

Well lived lives. How we show up and what we do will be in the catalogues of time forever. That being said we have been known to make mistakes, so it’s super important to forgive ourselves and each other so we can all have well lived lives.
