Meet Claire Cox

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claire Cox.

Claire Cox

Hi Claire, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was a dancer my entire life. I went to an arts high school and majored in dance in college. However, a sudden and severe injury abruptly halted my dance career, leaving me at a crossroads without a backup plan. In search of purpose, I embarked on a solo expedition to Southeast Asia, sparking a profound love for travel.

While the allure of exploration was captivating, the financial reality set in, prompting me to dive into the world of restaurant work to fund my adventures. Over five years, I honed my skills while traveling to around 30 countries.

When the pandemic disrupted my ability to travel and work in restaurants, I pivoted. Leveraging my background in social media management for local yoga studios, I utilized the downtime to expand my skill set. I immersed myself in various classes, worked for free with nonprofits, and launched CCox Social in 2020.

Now, with nearly four years under my belt as a business owner, I lead a team of four employees. Through CCox Social, I’ve been instrumental in empowering numerous small businesses, enabling them to thrive in the dynamic online landscape.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think all small business owners know, it is a rollercoaster. 2024 is the first year where I am making a comfortable salary! There have been many struggles! I have had to part ways with clients, I have struggled to make ends meet, I have had a hard time finding the right employees, I was even scammed by a business coach, and the list goes on.

The hardest part of my business-owning journey has just been getting my name out there. I spent years networking, teaching classes, joining Facebook groups, and so much more. It was a very slow process, but after all of the hard work, it is now paying off. However, I am so grateful for every struggle because I would not be where I am without them!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
CCox Social is a small social media agency that specializes in organic online growth. We work with small business owners to help them communicate their vision, stay on trend, and get more customers. We help with all social media platforms and offer content creation, photography, videography, graphic design, copywriting, data analytics and so much more.

I enjoy working with small businesses, so we keep our prices below industry standards. We also understand how unique every business is and create custom packages for each individual to make sure we can best meet their needs. We focus on building genuine online communities.

We do not hyper-focus on numbers, we focus on getting real people to engage and connect with the content we create. Lastly, I pride myself on offering a hands-on approach to client relationships. I attend all meetings, and all shoots, and am available to chat at any time (within reason).

Any big plans?
My vision for CCox Social in the next 5 years is to be a one-stop shop for small businesses to get all of their digital marketing needs. I would like to hire web designers, branding experts, SEO specialists, professional photographers, and other experts to offer the best services to all of our clients. I just hired 3 new team members and I am very excited about stepping into my role as CEO and being a respectful, communicative, and empowering leader.
