Today, we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Costa.

Hi Daniel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hey there! My name is Dan Costa, and I’m a Photographer/Content Creator. I found my passion for photography in August 2021, visiting Montana. I hated photography and never understood it. Now, I can’t photograph enough. Photography is “memory.” Cameras allow you to freeze time. I want to capture those incredible moments for generations to remember.

My mission is to teach creatives to grow by 1% every year. I mainly photograph my travels, work with travel companies, and create educational content to help creatives elevate their craft and business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road hasn’t been smooth. Many think becoming a full-time travel photographer or videographer is as easy as posting on social media and gaining a following. While this rarely works for some, for the majority of photographers, it is not the case. Even today, while the path seems clearer, it’s still tough to navigate. The hardest part is treating it like a full-time career without monetary gains.

Some career struggles are:

Imposter Syndrome: Feeling your work isn’t worthy of bigger brands or companies.

Comparison – Despite advising against it, even the most dedicated creatives fall into this trap. It’s great to gain inspiration from others, but if you find yourself constantly comparing your career to someone else’s, take a step back and reflect on your progress. You’ll be surprised at how far you’ve come.

Consistent Work – Building a reputable travel photography business is challenging in a saturated market. Remind yourself that with 8 billion people in the world, opportunities are always available for those searching and working towards them.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a professional photographer specializing in travel and landscape photography. As much as I’d like to be known for my craft, I haven’t yet established a reputation confident enough to claim that. Currently, I’m building an audience familiar with my innovative approach to photography education on social media, especially in photography, videography, and travel.

To date, my proudest achievements include working with travel companies and Adobe, further navigating my path into my desired photography niche. Regarding setting myself apart, I’m not yet confident in my travel photography to highlight unique qualities. I’m exploring my style, and experimenting with edits, compositions, and storytelling techniques. For the video, my personality stands out the most. I aim to create inspiring and educational videos in an engaging way.

What matters most to you? Why?
My partner and family are my top priorities. Without their constant support, I believe I wouldn’t have made it this far. Getting discouraged in photography and videography is easy. I hope everyone pursuing a creative career has a support system to push them on their worst days.
