Today we’d like to introduce you to Deandre Carter.

Deandre Carter

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
At 11 years old, my older brother “Paris Carter” and I always watched YouTubers and played video games specifically gaming YouTubers Dantdm, PewDiePie, Markiplier, The Rad Brad, etc. We were inspired to be like them so one day my brother opened up the idea for us to start our channel. Originally, I was DC Flame and he was a ninja. We would start off recording games we had access to but eventually, us being a duo didn’t last very long and he quit YouTube.

I didn’t follow the path of quitting I was given a vision and I wanted it. Over the years, I continued to slowly grown but I did not see big numbers until I started making apex legend videos peaking at 300k views on my highest viewed video and peaking at 10,000 subscribers. But shortly after these milestones I would get demotivated and burnt out and eventually take a break that lasted almost 3 years. During this break, I graduated from high school and went to college to study film, I became a music video cinematographer and director for Chicago pop artist Kdrippie and Chicago rapper SNL Yougn who now goes by YoungNRose. I made a name for myself doing this and was able to connect with a large number of artists one of my personal favorites was Sonoma the Kid.

After 2 years of being in college and being a director, I was reminded about my past as a content creator by some of my old friends from high school. I didn’t think about returning after many conversations with them but I did decide to make an Omegle video with pop artist Kdrippie and we gained a lot of attention locally and around the United States. An individual ended up recognizing me in Chinatown Chicago and after a long 20-minute conversation he called me naturally ” entertaining “. This whole moment of being spotted and recognized for my personality fueled me and I made my return as a content creator I was no longer DC Flame, I renamed myself as DC the designer and this was the start of something great.

As of now, I have worked with a few popular and famous personalities such as King Cid, Mello Bucks and Frosty, and the DCG Brothers. I am now using my film background to create high production vlog style videos my recent one is “Gifting Strangers Christmas Presents in Chicago”. I have a long journey ahead of me and with my brilliant mind and skills and my group BME “Bailout Mafia Exclusive”. I will be one of the top creators and I will make an impact in the content creator space.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing in life always goes completely smooth, one of my struggles was my parents not understanding my path and line of work. As a child parents often try to strike fear in their child to make them respect you or to make them listen to you.

One of the things they often do is take your belongings. Coming up as a content creator I did gaming, not just because of the fun of it mainly because it’s what my audience likes and wants to see. My parents would take my game and YouTube equipment over the littlest things that would happen and as you know you need to be consistent with almost everything in life. Not being able to post and upload for weeks and months can easily kill your YouTube channel and that’s eventually what happened to me multiple times. I was often mocked about my channel being dead or dying by my father,

Seeing my hard work and future go down the drain like that brought me depression and that also caused me to eventually give up. He claims he supported me but how can you say you support me and then kill my YouTube channel and throw away my passion and hard work, they just did not understand. Another struggle was not having much money when I was 15/ 16. I could not do a lot of trends or improve my quality as much so other creators were 10 steps ahead of me at all times.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As of right now, I’m known for editing and my out-of-this-world personality. I have been an editor for around 7 years, I have multiple different editing styles and have edited multiple products. You could say my editing is one of my biggest secret weapons today. This skill I grinding for is one of my most proud skill sets and will be a major component of my success.

When most YouTubers start their ability to not being able to edit becomes their downfall and people often click off and get disinterested in the video unless the topic of the video is really interesting. What sets me apart from others is the fact I approach things differently. One big example in the black YouTube space is YouTube intros with music and a collage of photos of them.

Let me lay down some sauce, this is the reason you’re suffering as a creator, those 12 seconds are the reason your viewer clicked off. I steered away from that practice and I also steer away from overused video ideas that everyone spams. This can make my short-term growth harder but in the long run, the success in doing this pays off.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson that I learned is to not worry about what others are doing and to not take hate on the internet too seriously.

The internet is full of trolls who want a reaction out of you. In response troll them back. You will have way more fun and start to look at hate comments as a positive thing.
