Meet Devante Manson of Westminister

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devante Manson.

Hi Devante, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Name is Devante Manson, retired US Navy veteran. Keep it simple, I was working on cranes, and heavy machinery since leaving the Navy providing for my family. Until about 2 years ago I had a car accident, a divorce and ultimately a revival in my faith. Then I find myself turning to THERAPY IN MUSIC . I figured if I could turn my passion into my business, I could be far more happy. Since I’ve started JustMalikBeats LLC, a solo company based around me and my production. I do all genres of music, I am starting to put out work for commercials, movies, etc. My goal is to bring the emotions and clarity music brought to me TO THE WORLD. I am single full time father, with three beautiful girls, while remaining a provider, full time student, and business. Follow @Justmalikbeats on IG. Website relaunch in the near future.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve had to over come a divorce, which ensued with a custody agreement. Friends deciding to switch up on me. Jobs laying me off for becoming a hard father. Figuring out school so that me and my kids can remain in our home while I purse this passion and career as music producer.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make instrumentals, melodies, loops and midi. I specifically like to make horror based music. So dark trap, Memphis music, PHONK MUSIC , lofi and boom bap. Yes there’s a difference in lofi and boom bap and it’s often sound selection. Most proud of my beats tape I am putting together. It’s been a long time coming and super amounts of rework and pulls for numerous reason but I want my first project to be a representation of me. What sets me apart is my willingness to try anything when it comes to creating. I put NO LIMITS on what we create.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think where at a crossroads in the Industry. With the Drake vs Kendrick beef going the way it has so far, we’re seeing an emergence of Real talented people based in skill and projects based in real meaning. Not 12 songs that all sound similar but actual concept albums with ideas and flow behind it.
