Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Bustillos
Hi Diana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Diana Bustillos, a proud Latina entrepreneur and community builder based in Denver, Colorado. Originally from Chihuahua, Mexico, I moved to Colorado over a decade ago, embracing the challenge of starting fresh and building something meaningful.
I’m the founder of La Feria del Tequila y Mezcal, the first event of its kind in Colorado since 2021. La Feria is more than just an event—it holds my heart because it’s a true celebration of culture, heritage, and community. Beyond bringing people together, it also has a purpose: each year, a portion of the proceeds supports local nonprofits like Adelante Community Development and Museo de las Américas, reinforcing our commitment to giving back.
I also host the Sexto Sentido Podcast, where I have the privilege of amplifying the voices of Latina women entrepreneurs, sharing their journeys, challenges, and inspiring stories.
Uplifting my community and preserving our culture has always been my passion. I’m grateful to be part of a thriving network of Hispanic entrepreneurs who are making a lasting impact, and I’m excited for all that’s ahead!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like many immigrants, one of my greatest challenges was leaving behind my family, friends, and the life I once knew to start fresh in a new country I now proudly call “home.” Professionally, I’ve encountered the rewarding yet demanding task of building a strong, trustworthy network while creating meaningful opportunities—not only for myself but also for those around me. This journey, though challenging, has been an incredible source of growth and learning.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
La Feria del Tequila y Mezcal is an annual event in Denver, Colorado, dedicated to celebrating Mexican culture through its iconic spirits, tequila and mezcal. Established in 2021, this exclusive and elegant gathering offers attendees the opportunity to sample a variety of premium tequilas and mezcals, savor authentic Mexican cuisine, and enjoy traditional music performances, including mariachi and guitar ensembles.
Each year, a portion of the event’s proceeds is donated to local nonprofits. For instance, in 2023, the event benefited Adelante Community Development, and in 2024, it supported the Museo de las Americas, which is dedicated to educating the community through the collection, preservation, interpretation, and exhibition of diverse Latin American arts and cultures.
La Feria is the first event of its kind in Colorado and by featuring a range of tequila and mezcal producers, the event offers a forum for these businesses to showcase their products, thereby promoting economic growth within the industry.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Traveling with my family has always been a treasured part of my life. As a child, my siblings and I were lucky to explore many wonderful places throughout Mexico. What stands out even more vividly in my memory is watching my parents work tirelessly to build their business. Their unwavering work ethic and relentless drive to create a better life were profoundly inspiring and continue to influence my perspective on determination and perseverance.
