Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Caroline Iscovitz.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In the dynamic city of Denver, my story unfolds with numerous twists and turns, seamlessly blending my expertise in clinical psychology, sustainable energy, and entrepreneurship into a compelling narrative. With a foundation in marriage and family therapy, my journey becomes a testament to the transformative beauty that emerges when diverse passions converge, sparking a powerful catalyst for positive change.
Navigating from psychology to coaching, transitioning through my online health business, and ultimately finding my path in the solar industry, my journey encountered unexpected twists, each phase presenting a unique set of challenges. These challenges included setbacks, the struggle against limiting beliefs, and navigating the complexities of the field, all while initially lacking the necessary tools.
As the Co-Owner of Solar All Over, I navigate homeowners and commercial property owners through the intricate journey from renting electricity to ownership. Emphasizing environmental stewardship and individual empowerment, my approach extends beyond the solar industry, earning recognition as a social impactor in the community. My greatest strength lies in cultivating relationships and fostering a cohesive community, transcending industry boundaries.
This strength seamlessly integrates into my multifaceted role as the host of the dynamic YouTube channel and Podcast, “Entrepreneurship by Design with Dr. C.” Over just 2 years, my journey has encompassed over 200 interviews, delving into the diverse entrepreneurial journeys of individuals worldwide, offering practical insights and inspiration. Through these platforms, I not only host a supportive community but also underscore the abundant opportunities for success, particularly within the entrepreneurial realm.
Despite the hurdles, each challenge fueled my determination, propelling me to launch my channel and podcast. By openly sharing my experiences and those of my guests, I aim to equip aspiring entrepreneurs globally with the knowledge and tools I wished for at the outset. This fosters a community that not only encourages learning from failures but also embraces the journey of failing forward toward success amidst the unexpected turns life may take.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey in entrepreneurship had its fair share of challenges. Shifting from psychology to coaching and launching an online health business presented practical obstacles, setbacks, and the inherent complexities of entrepreneurship without having all the necessary tools at the outset. Experiencing burnout, compounded by the pressure to learn everything and the reluctance to delegate or hire help, these challenges were further intensified by the influence of limiting beliefs,
Moreover, when transitioning into the solar industry as the Co-Owner of Solar All Over, I faced additional hurdles in growing the company. Navigating the intricacies of the renewable energy sector brought forth its own set of challenges, including recruiting top talent and understanding market dynamics in the 30 states we’re in, outside of Colorado.
However, instead of letting these challenges deter me, I harnessed them as fuel for determination.
This fueled the creation of my channel and podcast. Throughout this transformative process, I faced a personal fear – the apprehension surrounding success and its accompanying responsibilities. In addressing this fear, I recalibrated my focus, shifting from aiding others in growing their businesses to placing a renewed emphasis on nurturing the growth of my venture. This intentional pivot allowed me to navigate potential challenges tied to my success while continuing to support others in their entrepreneurial journeys.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Embracing risk has been integral to my journey, starting with the strategic decision to graduate at 20, a year earlier than expected, with my bachelor’s degree. Despite growing up in Florida, I wasn’t initially ready to leave when I graduated from high school. During my undergraduate years, a cheerleading scholarship at the local university provided a unique experience, but it meant I missed the typical living-away-from-home college life.
As graduation neared, my growing readiness for a new adventure, combined with a long-held aspiration to leave Florida, set the stage for a pivotal decision. I embarked on a cross-country journey to pursue graduate studies in California, a transformative choice fueled by a thirst for new experiences and personal growth.
After years invested in psychology, and earning my doctorate, I faced another pivotal moment. I made the daring choice to leave the field, returning to my roots in Florida to start my first business. The entrepreneurial path, inherently uncertain and demanding, became my next challenge, pushing me beyond the comfort of academia.
Each business endeavor I initiated or contributed to became a deliberate risk, pushing me beyond my comfort zone. The steep learning curve and abundant challenges molded me into a resilient and adaptable individual.
The most transformative risk occurred 2 1/2 years ago when I relocated to Colorado, knowing only one person. This relocation marked the commencement of a new chapter, where I encountered my now-husband shortly after arriving and ventured into the solar industry. It was a risk that reshaped my personal and professional trajectory.
My perspective on risk-taking revolves around embracing the unknown as an opportunity for growth. It’s about pushing boundaries, challenging myself, and being open to the unexpected.
While risks inherently involve uncertainties, I see them as the catalysts for innovation, learning, and ultimately, creating a life that aligns with my passions and values. Whether I consciously label myself a risk-taker or not, these experiences have shaped my approach to life, emphasizing the importance of calculated risks in the pursuit of personal and professional fulfillment.
