Meet Eric Sink

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Sink.

Hi Eric, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always known that my drive stems from creativity. Whether I’m playing music or crafting with my hands, it’s the act of creation that fuels me. At the age of 15, I discovered my passion for photography when I enrolled in a photo class as an elective in school. From that very first day, I knew that photography was my calling. My early lessons revolved around mastering the art of shooting with a film camera and developing prints in a darkroom.

As I entered my twenties, I ventured into shooting a wide array of events, from concerts to fashion shows. However, it was capturing portraits that truly resonated with me. I find joy in revealing different facets of people through my lens, whether it’s in weddings, engagements, or individual portraits. This ability to showcase individuals in a new light is what makes my career as a photographer so fulfilling.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth journey. It took me some time to recognize my own worth and to stop undervaluing myself for others. For a while, I believed that constantly producing content was the key to staying relevant, so I often did free shoots to stay on top of the social media game. This kept me from being able to lock in paid shoots.

Things really changed for me when I stopped doing so many free shoots and focused on doing all I could to get paid for my work. The paid shoots I started to get began to create more opportunities in the long run. Clients who invested in my services shared their positive experiences with others, leading to increased work and exposure through word of mouth.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a photographer! Weddings, Engagements, and portraits! basically anything that focuses on people. I think that outside of my photography, one thing that really sets me apart from others might be my ability to help anyone feel comfortable in front of a lens.

What’s next?
Continuing to shoot more and more weddings! I really enjoy shooting those. Growing my business in that direction is my goal.
