Meet Gabriel Tarin of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Tarin.

Hi Gabriel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been a designer for a little over 15 years. My career started here in Denver shortly after moving from El Paso, TX with my wife. Over the years I’ve worked as a print designer, marketing specialist, brand designer and art director. I am currently working as a Digital Art Director for COHN Marketing and as an independent brand designer and creative strategist.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have been very fortunate to have had great career success with minor set backs. I spent a lot of late night hours practicing my craft, taking leadership and creative courses, and learning to be the best design professional I could be.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My speciality is brand design and strategy. My work is focused on partnering with founder-led organizations and companies who value craft and making a positive impact. I am most proud of the work I’ve done with El Puente Institute, Promoting Good, and Cafecito Tambor y Caracol. I am also proud to mention that my work has been featured in publications such as Design Rush and Logo Lounge. I believe what sets me apart is my skill to distill complex strategy and ideas down to their simplest forms, creating clear, but creative brand identities and visual language.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think being in the right place at the right time has played a large role. But I have learned that you still need to be prepared for those moments. I remember instances where a great opportunity fell in my lap and I was not prepared at all to take advantage of it. Proper preparation prevents poor performance.
