Meet Jackie Rose Wuest of Colorado Medicine Woman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Rose Wuest.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a nurturer by nature, so wherever I find myself I am called to help others. This trait has led me into very interesting situations. I have held several jobs over the decades, store clerk, bookseller, cake decorator, floral designer, gardener, art teacher, dance fitness instructor, and cannabis cultivator… I also volunteered at a battered women’s shelter teaching women to dance, meditation, and laughter yoga.

These various positions helped build my confidence, skill set, and worldview. I was dealt with numerous situations that helped build my character- racism, sexism, prejudice, classism, misogyny, ageism, sexual harassment, verbal assault (yes on the job!), complete disregard for the environment and our precious resources- so many stories! What I learned from the negativity I faced or witnessed was that we are all given so many opportunities to learn and grow- learn to be of service, to be kinder, more patient, more compassionate, and grow into a better version of ourselves- yet not everyone takes this seriously or even sees the potential.

So I strayed from job to job trying to find the best place to work. I couldn’t stay in a place that disrespected people, the community, the environment, and future generations. I also desperately sought to work in a field that allowed me to use my abundance of creative energy, my talents, and my deep longing to serve humanity and the planet.
I was pissed. I remember an enormous rage that filled me as I came across cruelty, bigotry, saboteurs, and glass ceilings.

Then my mom got sick. She had stage four ovarian cancer. I was working as a cannabis cultivator for a dispensary at the time. I was also growing my homegrown cannabis and I was making edibles for my mom. I remember going into thousands of dollars of credit card debt buying my mom premium CBD oil that was infused with Reiki (healing energy). The CBD oils and my homegrown cannabis helped my mom get through her chemo treatments and surgeries. I began growing hemp and making my own solventless CBD extractions. I also became a Reiki practitioner.

In 2019 when the farm bill was passed decriminalizing hemp, I started my own CBD company. At that time, I was still working as a dance instructor, as a teacher in the cannabis industry (teaching people how to grow and harvest cannabis and how to be a budtender), I was also teaching gardening classes to the elderly at assisted living facilities, I was volunteering at a homeless shelter, and I was working as a part-time floral designer.

Then the covid pandemic changed everything! All of a sudden both my kids were home all day doing their schoolwork online. I could no longer teach any of my classes or do any of my volunteer work. I was let go at the flower shop. So, I dove into my work as an herbalist and a Reiki healer. I expanded my product line. I became a Reiki master teacher. I became a spiritual coach. I began offering light therapy. I began selling Reiki-infused crystals. I found my old, wounded heart was healing. I no longer carried that rage that had driven me to overextend myself. I am finally at peace with myself knowing I am doing good in a world that so desperately needs healing.

I have helped people and pets get back into their parasympathetic nervous system (the resting, digesting, and healing mode of the body). I have helped people and pets alleviate or overcome chronic pain and illness. I have helped people reconnect with their higher selves and their higher powers. I have attuned and trained others in the art of Reiki, which is so incredibly satisfying- knowing they will carry the torch and spread the love and light in their unique ways!

I have been so blessed on this journey and I insist on spreading the blessings around! All the ugliness I experienced in life only feeds my desire to grow beauty. For this I am grateful!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have had my fair share of difficulties. The government’s stranglehold on the hemp industry is ongoing – ever-changing regulations and ever-increasing fees. I have been cheated and robbed by so-called friends and business associates. I have been excluded from small business associations, micro-lenders, and financial institutions because I manufacture and sell hemp products. I have dealt with small-minded hecklers and nay-sayers who are ignorant about hemp and the endocannabinoid system.

I have been denied retail space at stores and events because I sell hemp products. PayPal shut me down and kept my money because I sell hemp products. It has not been a smooth road! Thankfully, I am nothing if not tenacious! I persist! I am unstoppable! Plus, I have an amazing husband and family that keep me from losing my hope! I am also blessed with a deep connection to Spirit… Great spirit always has my back!
