Meet Javante Lee of Denver Colorado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Javante Lee

Hi Javante, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a little boy I was always surrounded by music. I’d hear everything from Gospel to hip hop and from the mixture of music I listened to, at a young age understood there words is what makes the music good. In my elementary/middle school days, I started writing poetry. For me it was just a way to get my feeling/thoughts out and mom said “you know poetry is music”. Then and there, I knew, I want to get better and better at writing before I wrote any “song”. Hip hop just kind of molded to me very easy, I used to freestyle in school, local studios and in my room. Now I’m at a place where I’m ready to take this serious and go all the way. I believe that, because I’ve studied music for so long, try to be the greatest artist, not just rapper.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Remembering who you are. People forget sometimes you got to be healthily isolated to find who you are and build the confidence to not be afraid of who you are. We live in a world today where people look for people’s approval on things so they could fit in. I fell victim a couple of times. You almost got to be selfish, and ask yourself, does this make ME truly happy and if it doesn’t, why proceed. That’s like eating something you don’t like because someone gave it to you. Just tell them no thank you, but thank you.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a local artist from Denver. I’m still building a rep, but the vision that I have for Colorado when it comes to the creatives and the other artists, I want to overtime build a huge community. I really think Colorado doesn’t get noticed for the art or artist like where I lived for 2 years, Austin Texas. My goal in the next five years is to help Colorado get their name out the right way. I’m also a Denver native so why not I start that movement.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe that if it’s a risk you’re willing to take, that’s when you don’t hesitate. I’ve had to make a couple risk, mostly making decisions. Recently I took a risk, people from NYC likes my music and we are in the process of deciding is it a risk I’m willing to take. I feel like that’s always got to ask, but like I said if it’s worth taking, take it. So I decided to and sooner or later we’ll be NYC bound. This give me hopefully an opportunity to meet the right people for this.
