Meet Jenn Grubb of The Buzzy B

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenn Grubb.

Hi Jenn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Absolutely! My story really begins when I became a teen mom. Back then, there just wasn’t anything like The Buzzy B — no central place to find fun, affordable, and meaningful things to do with your kids. I remember feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and wishing there was a resource that could make parenting just a little easier… and a lot more fun!

Fast-forward a few years (ok decades, and a few kids later 😄), I started working with Macaroni KID. I loved helping families find local fun, but I quickly realized I was limited — their focus was mostly ages 3–12. And in real life, families don’t fit neatly into boxes like that! I wanted to create something bigger, something that truly included everyone — from toddlers to teens, parents to grandparents.

That’s when The Buzzy B was born. What started as a small Facebook page sharing local events in Colorado Springs has now grown into a full-blown community hub that covers El Paso, Teller, and slowly coming into Douglas Counties. My calendar features events for all ages — even seniors! No age limits, no restrictions — just a whole lot of Colorado fun.

The Buzzy B is now known for its massive event calendar, family guides, parenting hacks, contests, and small-business shout-outs — all designed to make parenting easier and more fun. Along the way, I’ve been honored to be featured on FOX21, KOAA, and Loving Living Local, named Community Connector of the Year, and recognized as a “Do-Gooder” by Blue It Forward.

But my favorite part? Seeing families make memories and small businesses thrive because of what we’ve built together. The Buzzy B is more than just a website — it’s a community, a connection point, and proof that when you lead with heart (and maybe a few bee puns 🐝), beautiful things happen. 💛

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh goodness — smooth road? Not even close! 😅 Starting your own business is like parenting… beautiful, messy, and full of moments where you wonder if you’ve completely lost your mind! There have definitely been struggles along the way — and plenty of doubt.

I became a teen mom, and back then, there wasn’t anything like The Buzzy B. I often felt alone, trying to find things to do that didn’t cost a fortune and would actually be fun for both me and my kids. That feeling stuck with me. Years later, I worked with Macaroni KID and loved connecting families with local events, but I felt limited — their focus was ages 3–12, and I wanted something that included everyone. Families don’t stop having fun after age 12!

When I decided to start The Buzzy B, I was terrified. The self-doubt was real — “What if no one follows me? What if I fail?” Starting from scratch is no joke. Building a website, creating a newsletter, figuring out social media, getting businesses to trust and collaborate with me — it was overwhelming, exhausting, and honestly… scary. There were nights I cried over broken links, questioned my sanity, and wondered if I was in over my head. But I kept going, one bee-step at a time.

The turning point came when a few amazing friends and local business owners told me, “People will follow you — not the name.” That encouragement changed everything. I realized that what makes The Buzzy B special is exactly that — it’s personal. It’s real. It’s built from heart and hard work, not a corporate playbook.

And that’s what truly sets The Buzzy B apart. I designed it to be “something for everyone.” Our event calendar includes toddlers, teens, parents, and even seniors — no age limits, no restrictions, just a whole hive of connection and fun. Whether it’s storytimes, family festivals, teen volunteer opportunities, or senior social hours, there’s something for every generation to enjoy together.

At its core, The Buzzy B is about community — connecting families to local experiences, supporting small businesses, and helping people rediscover the joy of being involved. It’s more than just a website — it’s a hive where everyone belongs.

I still get overwhelmed sometimes (okay, a lot 😅), but when I see families out having fun or small businesses thriving because of the buzz we’ve built together — that’s the reminder that every late night, every tear, every “what am I doing?” moment was worth it.

When your why is helping others, the how always finds a way. And that’s what The Buzzy B is all about — heart, hustle, and a whole lot of community love. 💛🐝

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Buzzy B?
The Buzzy B is a local Colorado-based family and community resource dedicated to helping families create genuine connections, lasting memories, and joyful moments together. 💛

My mission is simple: to make parenting easier and more fun — while helping families rediscover everything their community has to offer.

I think The Buzzy B is best known for our massive event calendar that covers El Paso, Teller, and Douglas Counties (and beyond!). (someday all of Colorado and other states) Every day, I personally curate and post family-friendly events, local happenings, and hidden gems — from toddler storytimes and craft fairs to date nights, senior socials, and teen volunteer opportunities. No age limits. No restrictions. Just something for everyone.

But The Buzzy B has grown to be much more than a calendar. We’ve built a full hive of family resources — seasonal guides, parenting hacks, easy crafts and recipes, contests, giveaways, and spotlights on amazing local businesses. Everything we create is designed to help families make the most of life in Colorado while supporting the local businesses that make our community so special.

What truly sets us apart is our heart. I believe that family connections and community connections go hand in hand. Even if someone just finds one event on my calendar and it becomes a memory their family cherishes — that’s everything to me. Because that’s what it’s all about — creating moments that turn into memories.

I’m most proud that The Buzzy B has become more than a brand — it’s a community movement. I am truly tring to bridge the gap between families and local businesses, helping small businesses thrive, and reminding parents that fun doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive.

At the heart of it all, The Buzzy B is about connection — connecting families to fun, businesses to their customers, and people to one another. Because even one day spent laughing, exploring, and making memories together can leave a lasting impact. And if I can help spark that — even in the smallest way — then all the buzzing was worth it. 🐝💛

What makes you happy?
My family — they are my heartbeat, my purpose, and my reason for everything I do. 💛

Every part of The Buzzy B was built with them in mind. I wanted to create something that brought families closer together — not just mine, but others too. I wanted to build a community that feels like home, where families can connect, laugh, and make memories that last a lifetime.

My happiness comes from seeing my girls smile, hearing their laughter, and knowing they’re growing up in a world where connection still matters. I want them to see that even when life gets messy or scary, you can still create something beautiful out of it — something that helps others.

Working from home, being there for school plays, spontaneous adventures, and family dinners — that’s the gift this journey has given me. I get to grow a business around my family instead of away from them, and that means everything.

Someday, I hope The Buzzy B grows beyond Colorado — that it becomes a household name nationwide, helping families everywhere find connection, joy, and community. But even more than that, I hope my girls see that their mom built something with love, grit, and faith — something that mattered.

If The Buzzy B lives on through them — if they carry forward the belief that kindness, community, and connection can truly make a difference — then I’ll know I’ve left the kind of legacy that matters most. 🐝💛

I’m not just building a business — I’m building a legacy of connection and kindness for my girls to carry on!
