Meet Jenna Martin of No Barriers USA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Martin.

Jenna Martin

Hi Jenna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
For 20 years, No Barriers has been providing transformative programs that shift the mindsets of those who have been sidelined in life. Long story short, after No Barriers co-founder, Erik Weihenmayer, made history as the first blind person to summit Mt. Everest, someone looked at him and told him, “Don’t let this be the greatest thing you ever do.”

Erik used that statement to fuel him in his ideating around how to help others who have faced or are facing adversity and created the No Barriers organization. Today, we have a “No Barriers Life” framework that allows all of our participants to take their learnings and bring them back into their communities and everyday lives beyond their No Barriers experience.

Through retreats, community events, curriculum, backcountry expeditions, and our beautiful mountain campus, No Barriers has served a variety of communities including (but not limited to): Veterans with visible and invisible disabilities, youth, caregivers, adults with disabilities, and more.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Much like any organization, we’ve evolved. And a lot of evolving is learning from how we can be better. Perhaps not a struggle but viewing it as a constant commitment to best connecting and serving the communities whom we seek to serve.

I appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about No Barriers USA?
No Barriers is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing transformative experiences that shift mindsets.

Through our unique curriculum that focuses on “Seven Life Elements” participants are guided through the framework on how to live a “No Barriers Life” that extends beyond their experience with us. We continue to evolve in how we connect and serve sidelined communities, but our commitment to empowering and creating a life free from barriers remains consistent.
