Meet Jennifer Shneidman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Shneidman.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a photographer who specializes in studio maternity, newborn and first birthday sessions. I never dreamed of ever having a career for myself. As soon as I became a mom and military spouse, I just stopped working. My daughter was a complete surprise, but also the inspiration that led me to pick up my camera. I wanted to capture every moment of her! I didn’t realize I had talent for photography until an acquaintance asked me to capture images of her newborn. It was out of my comfort zone but sometimes that is the push we need. Four years later, here I am, running a successful photography business in Colorado Springs.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No business venture is smooth sailing and my journey is no different. I started my business in Germany, within a year, we had moved to Alabama, then eight months later we moved to Colorado Springs. Phew, I thought maybe I could finally settle and get the ball rolling but of course, I got pregnant, my husband deployed, and we were in the middle of a pandemic which meant having sessions and handling newborns was just out of the question. There is also the stress of building clientele with every move we make. There have definitely been times when I just wanted to quit, where I felt like a failure, where I felt like I was missing out on my own kids. I didn’t give up though. Photography is a big part of me and I was going to push through whatever barriers were in my way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
From the beginning, I chose to specialize in newborn photography. I have always loved babies and it just came so naturally. My business is known for clean, bright and minimalist images, where the baby is the absolute star of every image. I also tend to use a lot of white or neutral colors so I am definitely known for that too.
