Meet Jesse Holmes of FTF GOODS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Holmes

Hi Jesse, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always had the entrepreneurial spirit and dreamed of having my own business. Over the past five years I had bounced around different ideas but was still working in my 12 year corporate career. Then, in June of last year I quit with no plan other than to figure out what was next for me. Over the years I had always loved small shops selling local goods and small brands. I realized most of these stores were geared towards women. I have also always loved giving unique gifts and small brands. Out of this was born the idea to open my own store filled with high quality curated goods and gifts with a masculine lean. I wanted to fill a void that I felt existed in the Denver market. FTF GOODS was born out of this and opened June 1st.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As with any small business, there have been plenty of small struggles. Nothing that I haven’t been able to overcome so far. Some of the struggles have navigating all the ins and outs of operating like, inventory management, a new POS system, paying taxes and slow days at the store.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I like a lot about Denver. I like our four seasons and that they offer. I like the people and how kind most of them can be. I like our community at Backyard on Blake where the store is located. I like the food and beverage scene. I like the beautiful scenery. I like our sports culture. I dislike our traffic and lack of parking…
