Meet Josh Pettingill of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Pettingill.

Hi Josh, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my career in autobody repair by working at a custom and restoration shop, where I gained foundational experience in vehicle restoration techniques. Over time, I progressed to a collision repair facility, honing my skills in structural and paint repair for accident-damaged vehicles. After several years of service with a well-established automotive repair shop, I recognized a shift in my professional focus—from servicing insurance companies to prioritizing the direct needs of vehicle owners. This realization led me to establish J&L Autobody, a business dedicated to placing customer satisfaction and personal service at the forefront of all operations.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Working in the autobody industry has consistently presented significant challenges, including the need for specialized tools and equipment to perform complex repairs. Rapid advancements in automotive technology—such as the integration of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and evolving materials—demand continuous learning and adaptation. The profession often involves long hours, early starts, and late finishes, contributing to financial strain, mental fatigue, and physical exhaustion. Despite these obstacles, the field remains dynamic, requiring ongoing growth and the adoption of new techniques and equipment to remain effective and competitive.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a certified technician with I-CAR accreditation in both cosmetic and structural vehicle repairs. I specialize in custom modifications for drift and race cars and have served as crew chief for The Drift Doctor during his 2026 Formula Drift ProSpec season. Additionally, I collaborate with leading recalibration tow and auto glass service providers.
