Meet Josie Siregar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josie Siregar.

Hi Josie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
When my husband and I first started talking about opening a business we knew we wanted to have a safe space where our community could gather and have a great time together.

Growing up we were always family oriented, every Sunday after church we would always want to find a spot where we could all come together and enjoy each others company.

A boba tea shop is something we have always dreamed of creating and bringing to life! It was far from an easy journey, but with the support of our community, family, and friends we are able to be where we are today.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When we first opened many obstacles came our way.

One of the biggest was having to deal with an unexpected lawsuit. It took a big toll on our business and on our personal lives as well. Thankfully we have amazing people surrounding us that helped us every step of the way.

Looking back at everything we have been through I would say the journey was difficult, but because of all of the struggles and hardships we are able to grow and learn from our mistakes.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Banned boba is a boba tea shop serving specialty egg waffles as well. We are especially known for our character cups that can be purchased with any one of our quality drinks.

I feel what makes us different from other shops is our unique characteristics and aesthetics that we always make sure to provide when you come into our store. We love our community, and always want the best!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My husband and I have always found joy in making everyone around us feel safe and comfortable, because of that I feel like that overflows into our work.

We strive to always make sure every single person that walks into our store is comfortable and gets exactly what they ask for when they come in.
