Today we’d like to introduce you to Julianna Pullis.
Hi Julianna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Julianna has been practicing yoga since 2012. Yoga began as a way to gain strength and flexibility, but through the years she found that daily practice of marrying breath to movement was incredibly therapeutic. She fell in love with the practice and knew that she wanted to deepen her yoga experience. Julianna grew up in this very area of Denver, the beloved Highlands, and moved to Chicago in 2012. After moving back to Denver in 2022, she received her 200 hour trauma informed yoga certification at Zenver. She started to teach at Zenver and in the Denver area gaining experience and confidence in her teaching. An incredible opportunity arose when the owner of Zenver yoga studio chose to close her doors and asked if any of the teachers at the studio would like to restart, rebrand, and reopen as a new studio. Julianna decided to begin her journey as a business owner in June of 2024 and that’s when Golden Hour Yoga was born!
She is so incredibly grateful and honored to continue her journey in this sacred space and keep this little neighborhood gem alive in a whole new way! This space and its people are practicing yoga on the mat and in the world: Practicing loving kindness, honoring truth, cultivating peace and contentment, and truly honoring the yogic path. She is passionate about helping each and every student have a positive and centering experience on the mat, instilling that they feel empowered off the mat.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a first time business owner, things are not always easy. It was a whole new world of creating websites, setting pricing options, finding a social media presence, and so much more. She couldn’t have done this without the support and guidance of mentors and loved ones. It has been an incredible learning experience getting a business up and running. The hardest part of being such a small business is finding your people. Classes started small and they have slowly grown! We have made leaps and bounds in connecting with new clients and creating those long term relationships with those who now come to practice every week and call this studio home. We are always looking for new ways to connect and fill our space with yoga practitioners and are still building those client connections. The studio continues to blossom in new ways all the time!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Julianna leads classes that are intentional and loving. This studio is meant to be a safe space for all, creating mindful practices for yogis of any level. Using strengthening elements paired with gentle and detoxifying poses throughout her flow, each class is designed to evoke joy for the body and tranquility of mind. Each class she leads is trauma informed and she offers modifications throughout to make sure students of any body or fitness level can fit the class to their needs. The students at Golden Hour have raved about the soothing and spiritually guided classes held here. A favorite of the students is our Gentle Flow with Aromatherapy. This class is set to candlelight and we move slowly through our poses finding moments throughout class to enjoy essential oils to expand the experience and strengthen the connection to Self. The oils we use are chosen intentionally for their spiritual benefits wether its to ground, to calm, to energize, or open.
Yoga in the west has become a workout routine and at our studio we want to honor the roots of yoga and connect to something deeper. Of course yoga can help you feel fit, flexible, and strong but it is so much more. We make sure every class at our studio has moments for breathwork, for stillness, for meditation, for acknowledging the busy mind and taking time to quiet it. At Golden Hour Yoga, we believe that yoga isn’t just about a great work out. The union of body, mind and spirit is an ancient practice that we have deep gratitude for. We provide a space here at Golden Hour where you can turn inward and connect with your True Self. Our world needs deep healing and what better way to begin than with yourself. When we take the time to fill our cup, we have more to give to others. We are a neighborhood studio providing respite from a busy world and bringing tranquility of mind to our students. We provide a place where you can strengthen the body and turn inward to quiet the mind.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Here in our city we have so many people who are active, want to be outdoors, and love taking time to tend to the body. Being so close to the beautiful Rocky Mountains while still having city life makes this place very special. In general, I feel that Denver is very welcoming and open minded. My wish for Denver would be to see prices go down, more housing opportunities and resources for the homeless, and more earth conscious choices being made in the city.
