Meet Karen Kirkland of Champagne & Charcuterie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Kirkland.

Hi Karen, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I moved to Denver in hopes of starting another business. I had hopes of launching in 2020 and then Covid had everyone staying home. After re-evaluating my investors and I decided to put on hold the startup until employees were in the office more. Fall of 2020, I decided that I needed to find a hobby. Boredom was settling in and sitting still was not my forte. I did some research, invited some friends over for a grazing board full of my favorite charcuterie items. I launched full-time in October 2020.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve owned several businesses and just like everything in life there has to be struggle. Owning a business is never easy. I started during Covid and found ways to get my product out there.

As you know, we’re big fans of Champagne & Charcuterie, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I own Champagne & Charcuterie. We provide charcuterie and catering for any special occasion or just because. Our charcuterie comes in individual forms to grazing tables to feed a large crowd. We offer charcuterie classes, charcuterie memberships and provide cheese and meat boxes to ship to the 48 states.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Being readily available but also knowing what your limits are. I want to make sure I wake up every day and still love what I do!
