Meet Katharine McKinney

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Katharine McKinney. Katharine was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Angelique Alcaraz.

Katharine, thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
My floral designer journey started in my early twenties. My manager now friend, took a chance on me. Trained me so well I was promoted to management within a year. I had my son and left the passion to focus on family in 2012.
Fast forwarding to 2022 and I was able to get back to my true passion. Started a business and have been living my dreams again! It’s growing and I couldn’t be happier!

Please tell us more about your brand, KM Flowers and Cupcakes
We are an All-inclusive Wedding company. I’m the florist, certified day of coordinator, and planner. We create unique weddings or events to cater to our clients needs. Our process is to ensure a successful event and to be very thorough. This includes helping in color palettes, accent details, and florals that are in season. We never mislead our clients in their selections. They can trust the designs and know I have their visions on a high priority. I also use sustainable sources and mechanics for my design elements. What this means is reusable, compostable, and biodegradable installations. We educate our clients with recommendations on dual purposing and having a no foam wedding. These practices can be just as grand and elegant without the damaging effects. I also grow seasonal florals that I add to my designs in the summer and fall months. It may not be all year (yet) but, it’s a great start to cut a carbon foot print. It’s a growning process and I’m very proud to be sustainable and to create gorgeous events for my couples.

So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Angelique Alcaraz and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Angelique.
Working with Angelique was absolutely amazing! We had connected online for a photoshoot in Evergreen she was planning. I was beyond excited to work with her. Her style from what I saw before working with her was very warm and she truly captures the best moments.
The day came and I was finally able to meet her in-person. I really felt comfortable and relaxed. She made the whole day feel fun and full of excitement with perfect direction.
She made everyone feel that way and it really shows in her work.
