Today we’d like to introduce you to Keerthana Radhakrishnan.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi,
I am Keerthana Radhakrishnan, 27 Years old, Chennai (India)-born, living in USA.
I started traveling abroad at the age of 15. I come from a family which is very passionate to explore and travel and we have travelled 9 countries so far. My parents are my biggest travel inspiration. My husband is the best travel partner I could ask for and my brother is an adventurer. I have been planning my travel like flights, stays, places, and expenses since very young age.
I started @the_travel_freaks to show people how our world looks outside of 9 to 5, how our perspective on life changes each time we travel and how much we get to know ourselves and the people around us.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are lot of pain points while planning a travel whether it is in the same country or abroad.
Some of the common problems are:
– How much money can we spend for this trip?
– How many days can we allocate?
– Which city/country are we going to visit?
– Do we need to take visa?
– Which kind of transportation are we looking at?
– Where to stay, what to wear, etc., etc.
The list of things to think gets pretty overwhelming but as we always know “the journey of a thousand mile begins with a single step”.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
After visiting 9 countries and 32 states, I had so much information to share that could help people in their travel journey.
So, I started @the_travel_freaks to show and help fellow travelers about unique experience I have, the different cuisines I try, where to stay budget-friendly, and some interesting places to visit. Some people think that travel is luxury and that they need a huge bank balance. The answer is simply “NO”. There is no such thing called Luxury Travel, Travel by itself is a luxury.
I don’t want to influence people but to inspire them to Travel and go see the nature’s beauty. I want people to go see how beautiful the world is. How thankful they are to be born and live in this beautiful planet.
People feel stressed, suffocated and overwhelmed with their day-to-day jobs. There is a natural healing process just outside our doors like Go out and get 15 mins of sunlight, Vitamin D helps grow happy hormones. Need a workout? Hike a nearby mountain.
I want to bring awareness to all the above through my page @the_travel_freaks and hence started it with lot of positivity.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In next 5-10 years I want to inspire lot of younger generations to explore wisely, reduce the carbon footprints, reverse the climate change and give more importance to the outside world. To travel is to live!
