Meet Krystal Boudreau

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Boudreau.

Krystal Boudreau

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Thank you for the opportunity to tell you my story – about how a dream I had in high school came true last year when I decided to no longer wait for the dream to come to me… but instead chase that dream.

I’ve always felt a draw to help people even since I was a little girl, I would help senior neighbors with their yards, and help teachers at schools, and as I got older I would walk to church and volunteer in the kid’s area.

About 25 years ago, I was driving in my car and remember listening to the St. Jude-a-thon and just having tears stream down my eyes. The stories would pull at my heart and I just wished I could give all my money that I didn’t have to them. I knew in that moment that one day….. I wanted to do big things.

As life progressed, I would constantly think to myself… If I won the lotto one day… I would take toys to all the kids in St. Judes…. which was one of my dreams ever since that drive. Or ONE DAY…. If I am rich….. I will start a nonprofit, raise money, and give money away. At the end of 2022, I was asked what would do if I came into a bunch of money…. My response was to start a nonprofit and follow that dream.

As the year came to an end, I realized that life was flying by and time was not on my side. I now have a son in high school and it hit that my next phase of life is almost here. I am going to be an empty nester…. I have been a stay-at-home mom for the most part and I realized that I have spent the last 14 years pouring my life into my first dream of being a mom and raising my two children who are the heartbeat of my soul. I also spent the last year going through a divorce and realized that I would soon need to figure out my next “career” phase.

I love helping others, I love giving to others. My favorite thing in the world is random acts of kindness. My God-given purpose in life is to be intentional and spread the light of Christ through giving with an open heart. I am now the proud executive director of my own non-profit, called Pixiedusted, and I enrich children’s and family’s lives through random acts of gifting.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I am grateful that I have not hit too many challenges along the way. The application process was fairly fast and easy and I am now going back to school for my non-profit management certification to learn the best practices to run my non-profit as I have been using the last year to just get it started.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The mission of Pixiedusted is to enrich children’s and families’ lives through random acts of gifting to financially support programs and needs that might otherwise go unfunded! What is a “random act of gifting?” A random act of kindness is a non-premeditated, inconsistent action designed to offer kindness towards the outside world; and gifting is described as something given voluntarily without payment in return, or making a gesture of assistance.

Here at Pixiedusted, we combine those two wonderful acts and love spreading “pixie dust” to those in our community. Our goal is to give back to the world in a way to bless others. The financial gift given varies each month based on our annual donation fund and what the board votes on. It can be anything from filling food pantries and little libraries, donating towards scholarships for children’s programs, helping fund new after-school programs, or donating funds to help other non-profit organizations fulfill their missions.

We also work alongside another local non-profit called Koats 4 Kids, to help collect new winter coats to give to kids in the Colorado Springs area to every kid at the chosen elementary school each year.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is encouraging others to spread random acts of kindness because the world is full of needing more kindness.
