Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi Davis.
Hi Lexi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in Parker, CO, and lived there my entire life until I went to college. I grew up playing girl’s lacrosse and when I was 16 I committed to play Division 1 lacrosse at Longwood University in Farmville, VA. Before going to college, I realized how much I loved business while participating in DECA and attending DECA state 2 years in a row.
My biggest accomplishments in high school were earning All-State & American for lacrosse my Senior year. I then moved across the country to pursue both my passion for lacrosse and business! I was a starter all 4 years I played lacrosse at Longwood University and ranked #4 for all-time career assists with 94 total assists. While attending Longwood, I was a Business Administration Major with a double concentration in Marketing & Management. I earned a Scholar-Athlete Award in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Unfortunately, my Senior year got cut short due to Covid, so I was not able to finish my final season of lacrosse and returned back to Colorado.
After returning back to Colorado, I found the company I currently work for called, Sam The Concrete Man. Sam The Concrete Man is a franchise that has over 80 locations across the US specializing in residential concrete flatwork. I have been at Sam The Concrete Man (The Corporate Office) for over two years and worked my way up from a Project Coordinator, to an Onboarding Coordinator, and currently work as the Brand Reputation Manager. This company has really shown me a new passion for franchising.
Not only have I excelled in my business career, but I have also excelled in my lacrosse career. I was the Assistant Coach for Chaparral Girls Lacrosse for one year and have now been the Head Coach for the entire program for the past two years. This is so important to me as I played lacrosse for Chaparral High School and I now get to give back to the community that helped me gain so much in life.
Just some fun information about me: I bought my first home when I was 22 in Castle Rock with my longtime boyfriend, I have a cat named Kiwi and a puppy named Coconut, and my father, uncle, and cousin have all been lacrosse coaches!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not always been a smooth road! When it comes to lacrosse, some of the biggest struggles are just realizing that it is not the most popular sport.
It’s really hard to get credit for something that not everyone understands. When it comes to working, I had trial and error working at a company I really didn’t like just because I felt the need to get a job immediately after graduating college.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As the Brand Reputation Manager for Sam The Concrete Man, I manage the entire Brand’s listings, reviews, print advertisements, public relations, and overall brand awareness. One thing that really sets me apart from the others is the fact that I have worked my way up through this company. Working my way up has given me the tools to be known as a “swiss army knife”!
When it comes to being the Head Coach for Chaparral girls lacrosse, I am most proud of the fact that I am a head coach at only 23 & 24 years old. I get officials telling me they need to speak to the head coach and I have to correct them saying, “Hey! I am the head coach!”.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
So many people deserve credit for any of the successes I have had!
1) My parents – always pushed me in sports and school while being so supportive. Would never let me quit anything and I have always brought that with me!
2) Dix Baines – my high school lacrosse coach. He coached for 25 years and passed the baton to me to become the head coach.
3) AJ Dumler & Becky Lane – my bosses at Sam The Concrete Man. No matter what role I have been in, they have encouraged me to keep doing what I have been doing and never stop learning!
