Meet Lorica Hrubes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorica Hrubes.

Lorica Hrubes

Hi Lorica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My name is Lorica, I’m a Colorado-born native. A little bit about myself, I’m an identical twin, grew up in humble beginnings with my mom as well. I learned early in life that if you want something you have to work hard for it. I did not go to college, though highly driven too.

The financial situation wasn’t there, I started differently in my early 20s with different crafts, and one that stuck with me to this very day is my satin roses. I was strongly inspired by our grandma as a young girl, she created so much with her own two hands.

As I continue as a self-taught entrepreneur, with so much love and support along the journey of ups and downs. I’m blessed to say the dream never died, I design, create, and plan. All for my newest adventure, in tea party planning.

My business name is “Not your typical tea party by Lorisa “.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has anyone ever in history to make history, had things go perfectly?

While I’m on my way to becoming recognized by many. I’ll be the millionth to say, that without ashes there is no beauty. I’ve tried “quitting and giving up my dream, as it has seemed I’ve gotten nowhere with it at times. The feeling of discontent and discouragement disables one’s dream too.

With the highs and lows of designing, creating, and planning. I’ve humbly found my path, it’s having faith and perseverance to get out of the “I’m not good enough” phase.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
After 15 years of designing, creating, and planning different art. I am the creator, designer, and event planner of “Not your typical tea party by Lorisa “.

I specialize in event planning, table scaping, and design. All within the theme of my tea parties. I’m currently coordinating a “tea party in a box”. I take off every single detail of the “tea party in a box” package. Creating a unique tea party for the customer and guests to enjoy. All the while giving the customer a stress-free experience.

I’m so proud of this fairly new concept of bringing my “tea party in a box” to all who want a memorable experience. I’m thankful to all those who’ve encouraged me along the way. I’m constantly receiving donations of items to boost my wear for the parties.

I believe what has set me apart from most event planners. I hand-make over 75% of my items, and they are showcased throughout the party. I hand-make French macarons, merguine cookies and many more delectable desserts. I design all my centerpieces and tablescapes. I’ve also created a few of my party games, themed for the tea party itself.

What were you like growing up?
My twin sister Nicole would easily say “She’s the good twin”, my sister has a beautiful heart. We just grew up hearing a lot, about who’s the good twin or the evil twin? Growing up, I was eager to learn how to create anything with my hands. From my first dream catcher to making paper doll clothes.

Growing up in hard times with a single parent, made me appreciate and value things differently than most. My personality was significantly different from most, always trying to be different since I’m an identical twin was hard enough. Like most girls, I was sweet and sassy.

After growing into my various personality traits, when a child and young adult are subjected to trauma. One thing is for sure, we’re never the same. Now today, my interest involves, how to make a person smile with whatever I’ve created.
