Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke Danziger
Hi Luke, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in NY, studying Finance and Economics. Working in finance and real estate development/management in my early years, Realizing after working in NYC and Boston in my studied field that working in finance was not the fulfilling career I was looking for. I decided to move from Boston to San Francisco to pursue new endeavors. In San Francisco I pursued a passion I have always been drawn to, building. I have always liked the tangibility of building along with delivering projects or products to clients. I started as a project manager on a 70 foot sailboat retrofit project. I grew up racing sailboats, being on the US sailing team and this experience enabled me to understand the intricacies of a sailboat build. I soon came to realize this was my passion. Working on this project for two years I was recruited to join a small outfit on the Alameda navy base. They were building 50 Million dollar 50 foot long robotic submarines for Google. These vehicles were built to map the ocean floor at a high resolution, The navy saw what we were doing and we were contracted to build some special purpose AUV’s, Autonomous Underwater Vehicles. These projects were very exciting and gave me the satisfaction I was craving, After living in San Francisco for 7 years I sought out the mountains and decided to move to Boulder, CO. At the time I had secured a tech job that allowed me to be remote. This only reinforced my passion to build, I wanted to get my hands dirty. I started building high custom cabinetry for homeowners in Boulder. I ultimately became close friend’s with one of my clients. We had discussed starting a company together and Vertex Vans was born.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been anything but a smooth road. After only 4 months of starting Vertex my Business partner had a massive heart attack and passed away. He was a husband, father of two beautiful girls and a pillar of the Boulder community. Its was a huge lose. They even threw a parade for him on pearl St ending at the Boulder theater for a memorial concert with many different performers . He owned Madison house and managed hundreds of bands. He was a beloved member of the boulder community. He is missed
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Vertex Vans strives and is recognized as building some of the highest quality vans in the country. We utilize only the best products and strive to develop the best practices. We are a truly custom van builder, we have never built the same van twice. We work closely with our customers to create a van specifically around their hobbies, demographics, family size and needs. There are very few van builders that offer a truly customized van. With the price of adventure vans, we believe customers should get what they want and need. Not just a cookie cutter van with two fabric choices that is easy to mass produce, Building each van differently creates a lot of challenges but that’s what separates and excites us. We have hundreds of fabrics, vinyls, colors and choices. If you want it we will build it, as long as it’s safe.
