Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa Cooper
Hi Marissa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Being a Video Producer was always a subconscious dream. Growing up I use to make cringe-worthy videos with my friends and premiere them to our parents who graciously watched every second of our performances.
As a Colorado native, growing up I lived and breathed soccer since age 5. This obsession lead me to the University of Northern Colorado where I studied marketing while playing as a goalkeeper on the school’s women’s soccer team. At the beginning of my senior year I actually quit the team. This abrupt life-changing shift had me evaluate who I actually was.
After graduation my career began at an e-learning science company managing their social media accounts. My first exposure to professional video production began with writing scripts for their course videos. From there I began my stint at Designscapes Colorado where I created their safety and training video program. This program consisted of over 60 video in English and Spanish ranging from job site behaviors, equipment operation, and more. In the middle of all of this, I was actually pursuing a career in broadcast because that is one of the ways I thought I could work in my now craft. Fortunately, that didn’t work out. After I created the training program I was hired on full-time at Designscapes Colorado as their Marketing Manager and Video Producer. I loved my time at Designscapes Colorado and deep down in my heart, I wanted to pursue a career that solely focused on video production.
Then came my job opportunity to work for LIV Sotheby’s International Realty as their in-house video editor. In this role I also had the opportunity to produce original brand content ranging from broker tip videos to marketing campaign videos.
I enjoy traveling and meeting new people and at about the year and a half mark at my time at LIV, I felt called to a new venture. It had always been a dream of mine to have my own video production business, work with a variety of clients, and travel the world. In June 2023, I said bye to the familiar and took a deep dive into freelancing and entrepreneurship.
As I have been in business a year, I could not be more grateful for what I have accomplished in this time period. I have:
– Produced my first short-documentary, 24 Karat Zoo
– Completed my first international production in England
– Became a Certified Commercial Drone Pilot
– Connected with so many peers in my industry, and more.
This past year has been a challenge, but I’m so proud that I was bold enough to accept it as the first step to pursuing this dream. Sometimes it’s doing the scariest things that make the biggest impact in your life. Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Each day presents new opportunities and battles. I am learning a lot about myself and how to run a business. I have had to learn so much on my own and am constantly refining my tactics and approaches to day-to-day tasks. The first three months were really tough and at times made me doubt if what I was doing was the right thing. It took up to six months to fully know and understand how to position the business to be the most successful. Each day there is always an opportunity for growth and shifting business practices to accommodate that growth.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
On Saturday nights in the 90’s and early 2000’s going to Blockbuster with my Dad and sister to pick out a movie for family movie night. My favorite genres are dramedy’s, comedy’s, thrillers, and psycho-thrillers. Still til this day Saturday night’s are sacred and I prefer to reserve them to stay in, snuggle up on the couch, have some snacks, and watch a movie.
