Meet Mark Schneider of Patrol Guard Security Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Schneider.

Hi Mark, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve spent roughly 15 years working in private security and nearly two decades around firearms and firearms training. I started at the ground level, working security posts and learning the industry firsthand. Over the years, I moved into supervisory, management, training, and compliance roles, which gave me experience with both frontline security work and the operational side of running security programs.

Firearms and professional training have always been a major part of my career. Over the years, I’ve become an instructor in firearms, de-escalation, defensive tactics, less-lethal systems, and other areas directly related to security work. I also built a successful firearms training business, which gave me experience running a company, developing training programs, working with clients, and building a reputation from the ground up.

That experience eventually led me to start Patrol Guard Security Services. PGSS primarily focuses on professional armed security for businesses and organizations that need a higher level of protection. I wanted to build a company around properly trained armed guards, strong supervision, accountability, and professionalism rather than simply putting someone in a uniform at a post.

Today, we provide security services throughout the Denver metro area, with armed security at the core of what we do. We’re continuing to grow, but my goal is to build PGSS into a company known for dependable armed security, professional training, and taking care of both our clients and the people who work for us.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Starting a security company means there are a lot of pieces that have to come together before you ever put a guard at a site. Licensing, insurance, contracts, equipment, vehicles, training standards, hiring, payroll, and finding clients all have to be figured out, and mistakes can get expensive quickly.

One of the biggest challenges has been building a company the right way while competing against much larger security companies that already have established contracts and name recognition. Because we focus primarily on armed security, I also have to be very selective about who represents the company. I would rather grow slower with the right people than take every contract and struggle to provide the level of service I promised.

There have definitely been frustrating moments, long days, and plenty of things I’ve had to learn as I go. But my experience in the security industry and running another business has helped tremendously. Every challenge has forced me to improve the operation, and I think that foundation will ultimately make PGSS a stronger company as we continue to grow.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Patrol Guard Security Services?
Patrol Guard Security Services is a Colorado security company serving businesses and organizations throughout the Denver metro area. While we provide both armed and unarmed security, our primary focus is professional armed security for clients who need a higher level of protection.

We provide security for retail properties, construction sites, hotels, corporate locations, healthcare facilities, houses of worship, events, and other commercial environments. We also offer patrol services, temporary and emergency coverage, and customized security programs based on the needs of each client.

What I believe sets PGSS apart is our emphasis on training and accountability. My background is heavily focused on firearms instruction, de-escalation, use of force, defensive tactics, and security training, and I’ve carried that philosophy into the company. Armed security involves a tremendous amount of responsibility. It isn’t enough to simply put someone in a uniform with a firearm. Officers need good judgment, communication skills, training, supervision, and a clear understanding of their role.

I’m most proud of the reputation we’re building. I want PGSS to be known as a company that takes the profession seriously, treats its officers well, communicates with its clients, and does what it says it is going to do.

We’re still growing, and that is something I’m proud of as well. We’re not trying to become the biggest security company overnight. The goal is to build PGSS the right way, establish long-term relationships, and become one of the most trusted names in professional armed security in Colorado.

What does success mean to you?
I define success as building something that lasts and being able to look back and know I did it the right way. Of course, revenue and growth matter in business, but they aren’t the only measurements.

For me, success with PGSS means building a company that clients trust, creating good jobs for good people, and developing a reputation that opens doors because people know the quality of our work. I want our employees to be proud to wear the PGSS uniform and our clients to feel confident when they see one of our officers walk through the door.

Long term, I want to build PGSS into a significant security company, but I never want growth to come at the expense of our standards. If we can continue growing while maintaining our training, professionalism, and accountability, I’ll consider that success.
