Meet Michael Campbell of Greeley, Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Campbell

Hi Michael, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey in the mortgage business with KeyBank back in 2001. After working as a restaurant manger for North Central food systems (Hardee’s Restaurants) which is the reason my wife and I moved to Colorado from Wyoming. I decided to shift gears and work for a bank because I thought it looked cool to see the bankers all dressed up and happy all the time. I learned very quickly banking isn’t everything it is cracked up to be. After a year with KeyBank I decided to move on to Bank One, which eventually became Chase Bank. At Chase I started as a banker, worked my way up to a licensed Investment Banker, then moved on to be a Business Lending Specialist and finally found my home as a Mortgage Lending Advisor.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing in business is smooth. In 2008 and 2009 we had the mortgage melt down and interest rate increase. From there we have had many wars and interruptions in the mortgage industry, flash forward to today, inflation is the biggest issues affecting first time home buyers because everything is so expensive. I have seen so many ups, downs over the course of my career and I have learned to take each challenge with patients and gratitude that I get to do what I get to do for wo I do it for.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a Mortgage loan advisor, I work with potential home owners to purchase or refinance homes. However my passion is Reverse Mortgage lending. I’m a licensed retirement mortgage loan specialist as well. This allows me to work with seniors over the age of 62 years of age to use their homes equity as a way for the homeowner to retire and remove the obstacle of a mortgage payment, I love this loan product because today there is literally no other loan product that can help a senior during such an increased spike in cost across the board. Without a Reverse Mortgage Loan we would have major problems in our County with retirees.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a sports kid. Anything that had to do with a ball I fell in love with the game. I played Football, Basketball and Baseball over my career. Unfortunately was not good enough to move onto the next level but was able to find passion in playing music in particular the guitar. I began playing the guitar at the age of twelve years old after begging my father to buy one for me. I never knew it would impact my life as much as it has. My favorite athletes growing up was John Elway, Michael Jordan. Today I love to watch the Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets play. I never thought I would say this but my home was in Wyoming growing up, but home for me today is in Colorado.
