Meet Michelle Litterio of Revive and Restore Therapeutic Massage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Litterio.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Michelle, and I founded Revive and Restore Therapeutic Massage to help people feel their best—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Before I became a Massage Therapist, I spent 15 years in Human Resources and office administration. I experienced firsthand how long hours at a desk can quietly wear down the body. Even when I stayed active, I still felt the stiffness, fatigue, and disconnect that came from sitting all day.

The challenges of the 2020 pandemic and my own mental health journey ultimately led me toward a more meaningful path. When I discovered massage therapy, something clicked. It offered a way to help people in a hands-on way that I personally connected with. I love learning, and returning to school sparked so much passion and creativity in me. Connecting my learning to the very discomfort I had lived with for years was a transformative experience.

At Revive and Restore, I blend clinical techniques with the calming, restorative flow of Swedish techniques. I specialize in myofascial work, positional release, myoskeletal techniques, and stretching. This is deep tissue like you’ve never felt before. I customize each session to the clients’ needs to create sessions that are therapeutic, but you still feel relaxed afterwards. Instead of choosing between modalities, clients simply choose their session length. Every technique and tool is included, so the focus stays on care, not add-ons or upgrades.

My approach is shaped by lived experience: burnout, the strain of desk work, and having someone who understands work with you. I bring that understanding into every session. I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed, to need rest, and to need someone to hold space without judgment. Massage isn’t just a service—it’s support and presence.

As your needs shift, I adapt each session in real time, creating treatment that meets you exactly where you are. This personalized, holistic approach helps clients manage chronic tension, recover from injury, maintain athletic performance, or simply find a moment of quiet renewal. My goal is always the same: to help you feel seen, supported, and deeply cared for.
Looking ahead, I’m committed to continuing my education in trauma-informed massage, stretch therapy, personal training, and fascial work. I’m passionate about elevating public understanding of what therapeutic massage can truly offer. Massage is not a luxury. It’s a complimentary form of health care.

At its heart, Revive and Restore is a place to heal. Every session is designed around your comfort, your goals, and your unique body. Together, we build trust and connection, empowering you on your journey and supporting ongoing progress. That transformation is why I do this work.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In my experience, rarely is there a smooth road. For years, I worked in Human Resources, juggling long hours, constant problem-solving, and the physical strain of sitting at a desk all day. Over time, the combination of chronic stiffness, emotional fatigue, and a growing sense of disconnect took a toll on my body and my well-being. The pandemic only amplified that pressure, pushing me to confront the stress, burnout, and depression I quietly carried and tried to ignore for too long. In 2021, I reached a breaking point and stepped away from work to focus on my recovery, including undergoing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)treatment for my depression—a decision that became a turning point in my life.

During that period, I had to face my fears of starting over, questioning my purpose, and trusting myself enough to choose a new path. Massage therapy had been on my radar for years, but fear had held me back the first time I applied to school. Choosing to return to school meant letting go of the familiar and stepping into vulnerability and possibly failure. But it also meant rebuilding my life from a place of intention. Learning to listen to my body, reconnect with myself, and honor what I truly needed was both challenging and transformative. Those struggles ultimately shaped the practitioner I am today—someone who understands overwhelm, honors the need for rest, and creates a space where others can find the relief, safety, and reconnection that changed my own life.

After going to school and graduating, I find similar bumps in the road with now launching my solo practice. This time though, I don’t question my purpose. I trust myself. My definition of failure has changed – now, failure is what happens when you don’t take the chance. There are absolutely bumps and struggles with marketing and figuring out how to get clients – but I’m here for the whole experience of building something amazing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Revive and Restore Therapeutic Massage?
I am a Licensed Massage Therapist who is able to blend deep tissue techniques, stretching, and range of motion without making people feel like I’m bruising them or digging too deeply into their bodies. Deep tissue doesn’t have to equal pain, and I’m proud to say I have worked on older active adults using these techniques and they have felt relaxed and restored after our sessions. I tailor all of my services to each of my clients’ unique needs, and I only charge for time – every tool I have available is available in our sessions, with no upcharge. There is also no upcharge for deep tissue or other special modalities. My goal is to help you feel your best, and we’ll work together to make that happen.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
For those just starting out, remember, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. It takes a lot of time, effort, work, and love to make something successful.

Remember why you started out and stay connected to that “why.” There will be challenges, doubt, slow seasons, and sacrifice. But knowing your purpose and reminding yourself of it keeps you grounded and motivated when the tough times come. And they come a LOT in the beginning.

Don’t just build a business. Build relationships. People remember how you make them feel, and they come back to your business because of it. Trust, connection, and authenticity are valuable assets.
