Today, we’d like to introduce you to Mindee Metz. Mindee was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Terese Intuitive healer.
Mindee, thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
I grew up in a family who supported my childhood belief that I could change the world, and we lived internationally for several years, which helped shape my sense of global community. What we now frame as social justice and sustainability were in my blood from an early age – I began recycling at 8, wrote school newspaper articles on disarmament at 14, founded an Amnesty International campaign to free Nelson Mandela at 15, and by my 20’s, was advocating for marginalized minorities in corporate America. The urge to help people and DO SOMETHING has always directed how I move through life.
I spent 20 years in finance and commercial real estate, the latter half of which was dedicated to building a leading global corporate responsibility platform, shaping the investment market indicators we now call ESG. It was a perfect gig for my heart’s purpose but like many working moms at the height of their careers, I – and my family – eventually needed a break from the constant stress, travel and pressure. I left in 2015 and shortly after received a breast cancer diagnosis. During the treatment years that followed, I witnessed my need to change the world morph into a desire to create a happy, safe one for my family, friends and community. This is what directs me now.
I also grew up steeped in the architecture and design world, and no matter where we lived, my family always prioritized making our house/flat/hotel/whatever feel like home. That sense of home and comfort led my business partner Julie and me to start our own design firm, Chinook Design Company.
And while support and advocacy still course in my blood, my targets these days are simpler: having meals with my family, serving a friend in need, creating connections in our community. My hope is that these seemingly small acts of authentic intention will spark in the boys I am raising the belief that they, too, can change the world.
Please tell us more about your brand, Chinook Design
Chinook Design is founded on a shared passion for creating beautiful spaces – we believe in comfortable beauty and spaces that shift with our clients’ life stages and changes. My business partner Julie Chenard and I share a love of comfortable beauty and a strong work ethic honed by decades in event experience design and commercial real estate. With shared coastal and global influences and an eye for detail, we believe your home should make you happy. When the pandemic offered Julie’s family their dream opportunity to move back east, we quickly realized Chinook Design’s largely virtual business model would allow us to continue collaborating while expanding our reach into other markets. At the time of publication, we are working homes on Cape Cod, and in Boston, Steamboat Springs, Boulder and Fort Collins. Our approach is unique in that we design for the senses – all of them, not just the visual. We consider how lighting makes you feel, which scents help you relax, what color most inspires you, how your space supports self-care, which spaces draw family together – all the things that evoke a personalized sense of well-being.
So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Terese and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Terese.
I met Terese on the tennis court and we instantly bonded over a shared love of yoga and healing modalities. After several years of compound trauma and grief, I had lost my ability to connect with self, others and spirit in the ways I needed to heal. Upon meeting Terese, I was instantly struck by the power of her eye contact – a clear-eyed seer of what really is, and some things I couldn’t see for myself.
Terese has helped me heal through intuitive readings and Angel Healings, and she recently led a group of fellow spiritual sisters in the teaching of Matt Kahn. She has helped me liberate from lifetime and ancestral tethers, and limiting beliefs and behaviors. In partnership with Terese, I have regained my joie de vivre, lightheartedness and capacity for living life fully.
Terese also guides my husband Derek and sons Ben and Andrew. Her work to help them understand, frame and navigate their ways in this world has given us true understanding of each other and a stronger, more authentic family bond.
