Meet Natalie Dyer of Fort Collins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Dyer.

Hi Natalie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Photography was a huge outlet for me throughout high school and college. I worked for the student newspaper at Colorado State University and was photographing everything from political events to college sports. During that time, I fell in love with creating images that made an impact on people.

Especially after the 2016 election year, where I served as the Photo Editor of the Rocky Mountain Collegian, it became so evident to me how important photographs are in telling a story – whether it be something large like a presidential election or a historical event, or on a smaller scale such as a snapshot in someone’s life, like a wedding or graduation.

In 2019 and after graduating college, I decided to dive headfirst into developing and building my photography into a business. Now, I photograph all kinds of things ranging from weddings to small businesses to high school seniors!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being self-employed is really glamorized right now. But it doesn’t always look like a latte in a cute coffee shop – sometimes it’s working late into the night, missing family events, and feeling like there’s never going to be a day off. The hardest part for me has been learning to set those boundaries, say no, and schedule those days off.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Colorado Wedding and Elopement Photographer. I jive really well with couples who are intentional about their wedding – who lean into their creativity and make their wedding day their own, whether that be eloping in the Rockies or having a small backyard celebration.

I’m proud to be encouraging couples to celebrate their love in a way that is meaningful and fun for them.
