Meet Natalie Huff

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Huff. 

Hi Natalie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Natalie Marie and I am the artist, marketing specialist, and designer behind City Girl Print Shop. I am a traditional printmaker with a focus in intaglio and watercolor designs. I graduated from Regis University in 2017 with a BS in Business Marketing and a BFA in digital design and printmaking. After spending a few years in the business world, I realized that my passion was not creating logos and websites for large businesses, but instead was teaching young artists old techniques. In 2019 I completed my Masters of Education from Regis University and began teaching Visual Arts at MESA Middle School. During Remote learning this past year my students created some AMAZING artwork which inspired me to begin creating and sharing my own artwork again. After many requests from friends and family, I decided it was time to focus on my artwork and growing my business. 

In the fall of 2020, my Etsy was launched and City Girl Print Shop hit the ground running. When it comes to my artwork you will notice that many of my illustrations and designs are directly related to my personality and my hometown. I am a Colorado Native, my family has been in Arvada for over a hundred years. Living and creating artwork in Colorado is one of the best things in the world. Not only because we are surrounded by beautiful nature, but we are also a part of the thriving ever-changing, and growing city. 

After a successful first year of City Girl Print Shop, I am excited to continue to share my artwork and passion with others. I offer a vast selection of products that are hand-drawn and unique, they range from custom illustrations to seasonal home decorations. My digital designs that I draw on my iPad include custom pet prints, wedding Illustrations, nursery decorations, family portraits, and custom logos. I draw them in a whimsical, sketched style and love to incorporate sunsets wherever possible, bright colors, and high-resolution photo backgrounds. All of my design can be customized upon request (hair color and skin tone). Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not always been easy without the support of my Husband and Mother I would not be able to do it. Designing artwork is one task but being confident enough to share your work with others is very tough especially when it comes to Stress and Anxiety. Although this is my biggest area of struggle when someone leaves feedback or purchases a custom piece of artwork there isn’t anything more rewarding!

Along with digital designs I hand draw and create traditional intaglio prints that range in size from 5by 8 to 3ft by 3ft. these prints are one of a kind and are hand-painted and watercolored. Most of my larger works are inspired by my personality and love of the Colorado nature, landscape, and mountain adventures. 

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
One thing that is surprising I also work at Das Meyer Fine Pastry Chalet during the summers when I’m not teaching and help customers design various dessert. From custom birthday cakes to large stylized wedding cakes.
