Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick DiPasquale.
Hi Nick, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I spent 20 years in corporate chasing bigger jobs, but even as the roles got more impressive, I always felt a little out of place. I didn’t leave the corporate world with a plan to go into real estate. It was more like real estate found me. And from the first clients I helped, I knew I was finally heading in the right direction.
The timing was almost comic: I started as a greenhorn in late December 2019 and had my very first closings in March 2020… right as the world shut down for COVID! I’d barely gotten going, and overnight I went from good corporate money to nothing coming in. But I used the downtime to figure out how I wanted to do this work. I wanted to build something personal, where every client feels like my only client and knows they have someone in their corner who truly has their back.
At West + Main, I started teaching classes and mentoring agents, and before long I was running the mentor program. That’s when it clicked: giving agents the same experience I gave clients was a calling. Nookhaven grew out of a simple idea: agents who love on their clients deserve a brokerage that loves on them.
That same belief pulls me into the industry itself. After years of serving on committees at the local and state level, I was elected to the DMAR Board of Directors in 2025, and from my first meeting I knew I’d found my people. And we are all fighting for the same idea: Realtors deserve an organization that loves on them, reflects who they are, and fights for housing, consumer, and agent rights.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and not only for the reasons you’d expect. The industry itself is in a turbulent stretch: nationwide litigation, rapid consolidation, and a lot of noise that’s worn down people’s trust in the process. And then there’s the fact that I’d never built a brokerage from scratch before. I was learning how to do that in real time, while the ground kept shifting. But my hardest challenges came in those early years and were personal. At the same time I was finding my footing in real estate, I was doing some difficult and overdue work on myself: stepping away from unhealthy relationships and a pattern I’d carried for a long time, and learning, honestly for the first time, how to care for myself.
COVID forced a pause on all of us, and I used mine for that work. I came to believe something I still build everything around: you can’t really care for other people until you’ve learned to care for yourself. I’m open about this because I think more of us should be. There’s no shame in it, and the growth on the other side is real. It’s also the root of how I do this job. Wanting every client and every agent to feel genuinely looked after isn’t a slogan for me; it came from learning to give myself that same care.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Nick DiPasquale is co-founder and managing broker of Nookhaven Homes, an independent Denver brokerage, and serves on the Board of Directors at the Denver Metro Association of Realtors, where he previously spent time on their Market Trends Committee. A former corporate operations leader turned Realtor, he publishes monthly analysis of the Denver housing market at nookhavenhomes.com.
What matters most to you? Why?
Relationships. Deep ones. I’ve never been someone who wants to be surrounded by a lot of people; I’d much rather truly understand a few. Learning to care for myself taught me how much it matters to feel genuinely known and cared for, and that’s what I want every person who touches Nookhaven to feel.
For clients, it means being someone who truly has their back and providing honest guidance, especially in a market that can feel confusing and high-pressure. For our agents, it means running the kind of brokerage I wished existed: one that gives them the same care they pour into their clients, with real support, a model that rewards their loyalty and success, and enough simplicity that they spend less time wrestling with tools and more time with their people. And it means showing up for the community and the industry through the causes our agents care about, and through the association work that fights for housing, consumer, and agent rights.
It all comes back to one belief: the people who give the greatest care deserve to receive it too. That’s the whole reason Nookhaven exists.
