Today, we’d like to introduce you to Nix Grimm.
Hi Nix, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started back in 2010, pretty much after high school. My buddy Ben invited me to do a photo shoot up in Longmont, and I haven’t stopped since. I’ve been creating more horror shoots instead of just gothic glam.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road but it wasn’t terrible. The most common struggle I came across was, learning to say no and setting boundaries.
I always felt I had to take on any project that came my way, especially when I first started. Along the way, I learned it was okay to say no and that I didn’t need to do all the projects. With that it gave me more peace of mind and more time for bigger projects that I really loved.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an alternative model that focuses on the horror element but also goth and some cosplay. Doesn’t necessarily mean everything is bloody more of the creepy/eerie vibes. I love shooting at abandoned places because they really elevate those types of vibes, plus fun to explore.
I’m really proud of a handful of sets. I did a Supernatural cosplay shoot with my younger sister that I’m just ecstatic about. It was captured at a gorgeous ceremony, and it filled my spooky, nerdy heart. The other sets I’m really proud of are the two that were at abandoned houses. Definitely captured some creepy shots. One of those sets has been published.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Yes, definitely all the teammates and friends who continue to support my art. Wendy Doll, a long time friend and fellow creative who is always down to create some nightmares with me.
Eric of Ablaze Studios Photography for always being so fun and capturing the killer shots. Brooke of Brookelynn Bliss Photography, another friend and creative, always so inspiring and just magical.
