Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Hampton.
Hi Patrick, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Aloha, my name is Patrick “pH” Hampton. I’m an artist who specializes in creative writing (screenwriting, poetry, and song), production, and performance with a heavy camera operator/ music photographer background. As well as the son of a psychic and co-owner of an entertainment company. New to Colorado via Vancouver, CA, I moved here via the pandemic and to be closer to my immediate family.
Just getting a call to interview Joby Weeks for a new documentary this last week. I’m one of those traveling personalities in the culture that locals don’t know how to take but have an impact on because of the truth of practice and associations. I literally went from Production Assistant to Model/ Talent Coordinator/ Executive Assistant on my first TV Show set, ever. Blessed by training and considerations from icons in their field like, Kim Fowley, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, and Bad Azz of Tha Dogg Pound (RIP) of whom all asked me to continue to use their name along my journey. I’ve been blessed to of been taught music production personally by Hip-Hop Legend Artist/ Producer Blaqthoven. My advice has been taken by a variety of personalities high and low, even watching my advice turn into life on many occasions to create a shift for the better.
Currently, I’m keeping a promise and developing a movie about Johnny Hurley the “Good Samaritan” from the tragic Olde Town, Arvada deranged shooting. Working closely with one of his beloved organizations, “Colorado We Are Change.” Where I’m writing and looking to star-in like, “we joked about”, as he was one of the first people I met in this community. There has already been a huge interest in my growing slate and this project is being pushed to the front out of providence and to push Johnny’s Legacy with thanks.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As I am at the end of an unimaginable healing journey. My road hasn’t been ideal. I’ve been forced to climb mountains and make sacrifices because of offers that did nothing to secure my abilities but watch how others were profiting.
My health has always been an issue. I was born with a heart condition of energy is a flux. Yet, growing up, I was forced to act like nothing was wrong and “push through it” to help others. With a lack of proper acknowledgment and the shifting medical field. I found myself burdened with medical bills up to my neck after my parent’s divorce because my father didn’t want to carry me on his insurance anymore. This also included a lack of parental support and guidance as mine went their own ways to live their own lives. One where my brothers and I were a memory or growing pains.
This lead me to Hollywood because nothing was holding me down and I was searching for life direction with faint hopes to be a screenwriter and work on productions. My family’s lack of support proves to be a problem in my growth. Yet, the entertainment industry kept finding me.
In the depths of my depression. I found value in a voice I wasn’t allowed to have. The streets gave me permission to speak out. This lead to my health improving and more growth. Still, the counter pressure was outrageous. As I started speaking out and also advocating about my use of Medical Cannabis a major influence on me moving to California, to begin with. My mental health declined because my “support” continued with negative interactions and gaslighting forced me into a Psych Ward for “Cannabis Abuse.” Where I went through a battle no human should endure of professional ignorance and abuse. My lawsuit ” Patrick Hampton VS Alberta Health Service” is supposedly a landmark case on Cannabis use to treat depression in the providence.
To express how it takes a community to heal a broken individual is an understatement. As I tell people, “We Rise Together, and Fall Alone”, who are you putting up, and who are you letting fall? There have only been a few individuals in this journey that helped me become secure in my plight and to control my own story. To them, I owe them my life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an Entertainment Consultant at the end of the day. People are always asking “what I think” about what they have going on or have told me “that’s a good idea” and proceed to use it. My specialties include creative writing (Screenwriting, poetry, songwriting), and performance (acting, modeling, stage, and singing/ rapping).
Known as being a notarized artist in the culture with personal teachings by some masters like Bad Azz of Tha DPG, Kim Fowley Manager of “The Runaways” and the “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. Most of the projects I seem to get associated in unimaginable ways with getting extra notoriety within the community and have given me an insight into entertainment that is unbridled. Some of the projects included the National Film Board of Canada’s “Limit is the Sky”, the screenplay, “The 1%” the citizen who pitched the first program of its kind “The Alberta Artist in Residence” a pivotal independent team member of who helped uncap the Alberta Tax Incentives, a student of iconic West Coast Producer and Artist Blaqthoven, and the son of “The Heart Moore Medium” a world-renown psychic.
I’m proud of being a self-taught person in the business where I regularly communicate with the family of the N.W.A. Hip-Hop tree. More than my own family. Plus, going from no one reading my screenplays to being nominated by multi-festivals as, “Screenwriter of the Year”, and having an overwhelming interest in work by some of the industries best for reasons, not the seasons. This earned me the name “Real One” on the ground where it’s a selective few who earn that blessing.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
You are going to have to start from somewhere anyways. I find a lot more people enjoy talking about their dreams and actually activating them. A lot of my opportunities came by circumstances but I was prepared and was listening to potential. Communication is key. We only have a limited life. Many are too distracted to grasp that.
Life is business. Life is limited. Learn the structure and why things happen. Plug yourself in with respect and show up. Many have missed the opportunities they have been wishing for because they were “too busy.”
