Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Mcclanahan.
Hi Patrick, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I began sourcing beans from Guatemala after meeting some friends from Peru. They were telling me about how fresh the coffee is and wanted me to try it. So, I ordered some green raw beans and began roasting them myself in my oven just as a personal experience to see what it’s like and it snowballed from there. From there I began filing paperwork and building the business through logo and legal filings. After that, it’s the excitement of e-commerce and event-based Marketing.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest struggles are dealing with the licensing and paperwork with the city irs and banking establishments. It’s a process that is its pitfalls and requires some education along the way. Beyond that is the process of building the business which starts slow and builds up. That’s where the fun is.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I worked for Google as a virtual reality teacher giving speeches and lessons in colleges across the country. The Google cardboard rollout was a program I assisted in building and bringing to the school systems. This was an ap based VR field trip tool that allowed me the ability to take students via a headset to vistas all across the world. Exploration of locations is endless through this device and students were enthralled.
Also working in marketing programs for many different companies gave me the skills I have today to build a business through online and physical marketing.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
The best part about the city is the breathtaking view of the mountains nature and the endless possibilities of outdoor activities.
I dislike how big it has become as I’m from a small town in NC. I’ll always prefer a small-town feeling.
