Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Freischlag.
Hi Peter, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Art has always been my passion. And watercolor a natural extension of my vision and creativity, like a tiger in a room. Sometimes the tiger does what you ask, but most of the time, the tiger does whatever it feels like.
I have had some doors open for me and I have been fortunate enough to have walked through them. The rest is surreal. It has been a beautiful journey!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Surprisingly, the road has been paved and clear. The journey has been exciting and an adventure. I am blessed to be on it and can’t wait to see what happens next.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create large-scale watercolors that are bright and bold. I am working with color, texture and emotion. I have been able to develop a glassless way to preserve my watercolors that has changed everything and it is novel. This process has allowed me into the best shows in the country and propelled me to one of the top-selling watercolorist in North America.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Well, luck perhaps has to do with one’s talent, being in the right place at the right time and being surrounded by the right people. Is that luck?
