Today we’d like to introduce you to Princely Fonkem.
Hi Princely, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started painting around may of 2020. I came from painting as a hobby and learning how painting as a form of art and expression works to becoming passionate about it and now every time I paint I try to be as creative as I can and pour my heart on the canvas. Painting, being creative, and Arts have become a big part of me and a new part of me being happy/with the love I found, and am excited to see where it takes me. I recently got into photoshop and surreal art too.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think it was a smooth road for me because as I said it was always a part of me and it came to me at the right time once I started getting into painting I picked it up real quick even though am still learning and expanding my knowledge about art I think am in a good place right now.
The only obstacle was when I just started and I didn’t think I’ll get this far it was the support from my family and people telling me “you are a good artist princely” that gave me the courage to keep going.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
When I just started, I think sometime around December 2020 to like February 2021 I invested $500 in an online course to learn about Facebook marketing which I don’t regret. I learned a lot from that but since then am not interested in selling my art that’s why my plans are towards a gallery, not a website to sell art.
I mean I might sell a few pieces when there’s some value to my work and maybe when I have a lot more art pieces and I don’t sell them because am obsessed with my art pieces and just like looking at them from time to time. Hopefully, my gallery dreams come to life.
